Why? Why not indeed.
Showing my happiness and encouragement for FRKO thats all. At age 16 to have a leica is wonderful. I've used many different kinds of cameras and the leicas seem to evoke a very personal connection with me, the same as my old Nikon FM, something about a passion I guess.

I love it, but I always have to carry FM2 along with M7, because it sometimes just won't fire. A week ago I was on a field, and first 3 rolls were made on Nikon, suddenly it just started working again 🙂
I'll probably buy a backup M2 (or M4) when I save enough. Does that seem like a good idea?

It sound like a good idea. 🙂 I used my M4-P as a backup for my former MP (two trips to Leica) and use it now as backup for my M7 (on the second trip to Leica...).

But as Matt said, having a Leica M7 at the age of 16 is great. Enjoy it and hopefully it will work well soon.

Gabor, you really give your bodies a workout ! My M4 is a backup to my MP, but I use the M4 as an everyday carry camera with a summaron 35mm lens. I got my 19 year old daughter a cute "Mini Diana" camera with a flash. It shoots either 48 to 72 frames on a standard 135 Film. Hence the beauty of photography, it really doesn't matter what age you start, stop, or re-start, its an expression, a joy and as some would debate an art form.

Hey I love my FM also. It's bigger and been through hell. I've done some self-repairs even. I hope you can sort out the M7 problems....If get another, I'd say get an M4. They are sturdy and reliable. I love mine. A quik pic taken at coffee last week....

I see this coffee shop use Mazzer grinders, a good thing. How's the espresso?

For what it is worth, I took my MP and one of my M3s on our last trip to Japan and they were perfect together: 28 lens on the MP, 50 Summicron on the M3. I also like my "even number" set up: M6 and M2 cameras together.

They roast their beans there in the back room. Expresso is excellent. A short walk from where we live. A nice quiet street, with an occasional car or dog. Even numbered leicas... hmmm, well whats an MP, odd or even?

Less curious, i'm really close (2 km) to Mazzer's factory.

Not so strange together, making espresso and making photographs. You need good technique, good equipment is helpful (a high quality grinder is crucial to make good espresso), and you need, most of all, lots of practice. 🙂

I wanted a Mazzer Mini for my home espresso set up but it is too tall for my counter space. But I know this grinder well and wish I had one. Please tell Mr. Mazzer bongiorgno from me.

I use my Mini Mazzer (standard hopper) every day, and expect it to last the rest of my life. As such, it's well worth the cost.

I guess it has some distortion? I dunno, I don't really shoot brick walls so I don't notice, it's a lot of fun in low light. I was gonna get the 35/2.5, but figured hey you only live once! 🙂 I shoot in low light a lot and the 35/2.5 would have been a bit too slow. I'm kinda glad I couldn't physically afford a 35 summicron though. It's nice to shoot a cheap leica m as a college student and still buy food.

I can relate to this. Impulsive decisions to buy leica lenses..... my car was of the road for almost 3 months
