I am planning to buy a 35mm lens for my leica CL soon. I am looking at FSU lens at the moment but realised Jupiter 12 might intrude too much into the camera and hit the meter.
Are there any other alternatives from the FSU?

'fraid so.
Here's our Head Bartender's list of lens options: http://www.cameraquest.com/ltmlens.htm
Could use some editing (he apparently couldn't think of Jupiter-12 and instead just calls it the "Russian") but hey, that's Stephen for ya

Not for practical use.
In 28mm there's the 28/6 Orion, which is not rangefinder-coupled, and all other options are again not for practical photographers.
When I was looking for a cheap 35mm lens, I went for a CV 35/f2.5, which is nice, compact, very good, works with the CL, and if you get the first, non-pancake-labelled version (which is just as small as the pancake version) you can get it for pretty cheap money.

Think you made a mistake regarding the Orion, since it is rangefinder coupled. The Russar (20mm) is not coupled (I happen to have both).

I'm looking for a 35mm FSU also, esp. a J-12. It should work ok on Fed2 or Zorki 4, right ?
Thanks,
Stefan.

Jup-12 is very good value for money indeed. Even cheaper in Kiev mount...if you happen to have a Kiev of course...
You won'tregret buying one.

Yes, of course.
Jupiter-12 and FED and ZORKI are very close friends

Get the Canon 28/3.5 and not the Canon 28/2.8.

The 2.8's no good?

You have a choice - black or silver Jupiter 12!

It's pretty common for the J-12 not to work on a FED 2 without a minor tweak. The RF sensor sits in the wrong place and fouls up. It's ok to adjust it up or down with some CAREFUL bending until it's right (take the back off to see). I've had this on both FED 2s that I've had and a few other people have found the same.I'm looking for a 35mm FSU also, esp. a J-12. It should work ok on Fed2 or Zorki 4, right ?

Yep, I made a mistake there, the 28 definitely is.
