I'm not happy with my canoscan 8800f so I'm looking for an upgrade. I'm interested in the reflecta rps 7200, I would be very thankful if those who've used it could tell me how they like it and maybe post a samlpe picture or two. I'm doing black and white mainly, but also slides and the occasional roll of colour negative. thank you all in advance!

Shutterbug Magazine digital Q&A column recommends Plustech as being the best available for a price people can actually afford. That leaves out the Imacons and drum scanners.
If my KM 5400 gives out, that would be my choice. Since I find his advice matches what I would give, I would tend to trust his opinion on things I do not know.
I am sorry I did not buy 3 KM5400 when they were available new. Used scanners are like buying a used car without an odometer.

I had a PI 7250 pro 3 which is the same as a Reflecta 7200 pro.
That is the one to get. Its got some quirks though, but I got mine for $420 with rebate.
Very good B+W scans at 3600 dpi.
That said mine had a bad CCD, but it would only show up on very dark slide film.
I would get color streaks on one side so you need to check it out.

Enybody knows if 16bit gamma 1.0 linear scan is possible with this scanner and supplied software? looks like a decent scanner should my V coolscan fail.I have seen some samples from plustek scanners and they seem to deliver far less sharp scans.
