Great stuff, Vince. They have a meet similar to this every year in Hanford, CA. I was getting ready to go hopelessly in debt over a Bultaco 200cc Metralla when my son dragged me away. I owned one in the 60's so I was deep in the clutches of nostalgia.

Oh, Vince...I've had covetous thoughts toward that Super Hawk ever since you began posting photos of it...that pic of you and the bike is great.
And, those bikes at the meet...Hondas, Harleys, Nortons, even F.X. Bulto's finest. Good thing I decided to stick to pedal-powered two-wheelers (although, relatively speaking, my tastes there are, if anything, even more expensive).
And...just how is it tooling 1k miles on that thing? (Presumably more fun than Mr. Pirsig had on his Honda.)

Riding 1000 miles on it is actually great.....a bit painful on your shoulders after a while, but great nonetheless. That said, this bike is probably suited to someone more my size (5'10", 147lbs). A 6'2" rider who weighs 240lbs would more than likely not have a good time on this bike, particularly on a long ride.
This ride was an interesting one -- my friends Lee and Scott came along, and Lee rode Scott's 1975 (first year) GoldWing. Scott drove his minivan with a trailer (in case he bought some bikes, which he did!), and it allowed us to throw our bags in the minivan and ride 'naked' bikes all the way to Mid-Ohio and back. Quite a treat indeed!
The big project that I just had completed prior to the trip was to have a new gas cap installed. These bikes are notorious for gas seepage around the cap, due to the fact that it's flush with the top of the tank, and basically vents onto the paint under the cap. So I thought that a cap arrangement similar to a CB350 would be a better arrangement, and had my mechanical and welding wizards make it happen. Much better!

What can I say? You knew what you wanted (and I grok your taste 110%), and you knew who to go to for halp. I'm also admiring that the Super Hawk gets some miles, i.e. isn't merely a garage queen.
Was never a big GoldWing fan, but Scott's "naked" 'Wing has a lot of appeal (I rarely see any that way).
Big thanks for sharing all this. And, of course, keep enjoying that bike.

Thanks Barrett -- yes, this bike rarely gets trailered, and I've put over 18,000 miles on it in the 6 years I've had it.
BTW I actually had a guy at the show ask me what '66 Kix' means. Sorta reminded me of that Louis Armstrong quote: "Man, if you has to ask, you ain't never gonna know".
