Whatcha think of that little lightweight lens? No PP of photos.

I like the looks of the 35 better for some reason. Did you scan the shots and if so with which scanner?

Processing/scanning to CD done by Walgreens.

The 50/1.8, based on very few shots, looks clinical; the little 35 looks spirited. Does that make any sense?
I have to get a hood for the 35; the front lens surface is close to flush with the leading edge of the filter/hood ring ...

Had a 35/2.5E for years. Very easy to use, sharp enough, fast enough, light but reasonably robust. Never fell in love with it, though. Best of luck with yours!

Great pictures from a great camera! I have a wonderful black FE2 that I got about a month ago and as it turns out, it's one of the bodies that I use the most. I've been using a Nikkor 35-135/3.4-4.5 zoom on it as well as the Nikkor 35mm f/2. I'm waiting for a black FM2n to arrive soon. Great post--thanks for sharing!

I like the images, Paul. I had no idea that you have a Nikon FE2.
I also have a Nikon FE2, and it is one of my favorite cameras.
My Nikkor lenses are very few. I have 50mm lenses but no 35mm lens.
The 24mm/2.8 is stunning.

Thank you, gentlemen.

Raid, it is a very recent acquisition. The body came with the E series 35/2.5. I did some horse-trading with Chubasco and got a Nikkor 50/1.8 and Soligor C/D 28-55/3.3 macro. The body has a latch-side light leak that streaked a few negs on my first two rolls; I am sure new seals will solve that easily. The FE2 viewfinder - with 0 diopter - fits my right eye like it was designed for it. NO NEED for reading glasses to focus. Hallelujah!

I like the last three pictures in particular. The pics work well in color and also strike me that they would work well in B&W.

FE2 (I use a black one) is one of the best cameras I've ever shot with... Not long ago I was testing, dividing different camera/lens sets for sun or for overcast/shadows, and after reading good comments on some series E lenses I bought a cheap 36-72 zoom for f/8 use on direct sun exclusively... It's great: like having a flexible normal lens... I prefer it to a more limited prime sometimes... When I don't want to carry my 20-50-105 set, the 36-72 is small and works well too... Everything is more determinant than the lens, even comfort. I've heard the 100E is a gem...

Cheers,

Juan

I think that my FE2 also needs new seals. I should learn how todo such tasks. If you can find a cheap Nikkor 55mm/3.5, buy this lens. It is one of the sharpest lenses ever made by Nikon.

Paul,

The Nikon Series E lenses were surprisingly good optically. Actuall in many cases equal to triditional Nikkor lenses. They were an early try at coming out with a low cost lens with plastic (where as Nikkors at that time were all metal). While I have heard of a few duds here and there most have held up very well and are quite a bargin.

You got a keeper and keep your eyes open for more bargins. Nice shots too.

Thank you all. Y'all's advice pushed me toward the FE2.

Raid, I have only done one re-seal job, but it was pretty easy for old fumble-fingered me ...
