What's that stupid orange thing on all the M8s?

I can only assume it's something like a warning sticker on the body cap

I just think it's interesting that every used M8 I see still has the sticker on the body cap. I guess folks think about selling in the future and figure the buyer of an M8 would want that sticker still on there. Kinda like folks who leave the price sticker on the window of their new car for a few months. 🙂

My M8 always has a lens on it so I just threw the body cap in the original box when I bought it... when I sell my M8, I'll find the body cap (with sticker) and sell it. 😀

I did not bother to take the orange sticker off of my M8's body cap.

None of my Leica's have a body cap on them, all of them have a lens on them. The only camera that I keep a body cap on is the Canon III with bad shutter curtains. I use it to test the RF cam vs distance scale on lenses that I am shimming.

But reading this thread, now I know where to look for sensor cleaning instructions.

Hey ... my OM-1 has the little oval 'passed' sticker on the side of the prism housing and I'm not taking that off for anyone!

Actually Leica only removes half the protective paper from the adhesive, so it is only stuck on half 😀

Getting the goo off of the JC-II stickers is a PINTA. Use Ronsonol.

And those labels on furniture! "DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW"

At least Leica does not threaten M8 and M9 owners to not remove the orange sticker under penalty of law like those furniture companies.
