Digital Light Meters

I'm currently using a Sekonic L 28c that I acquired about a year ago. Works fine but I'm looking for a meter with more capabilities, namely, lower light level response for ambient and ability to meter off camera flash. I'm looking at the Sekonic 308s which fits within my price range ($250 or less new/used) and the Shepherd/Polaris SPD 100. Never heard of Shepherd/Polaris and can't seem to find any data about it or the company. Anyone have any experience with this product or any suggestions?

I have a Polaris for 20 years and it is ultra strong and reliable. Mine fell down on hard floor a hundred times, it has eroded corners but still works like a champ. Battery is one single AA that seems to last forever as well.
I tell you the truth, I just bought another brand new Polaris because I am afraid to lose mine, not because I think it would fail.

I use Digisix (and really like it), but the low light capabilities are limited. Its sensitivity is not enough to measure night streets.

It may not be the most comfortable way, but the lightneters with the best low light capabilities are digital cameras. Even if the camera could not measure directly, you can make a few manual test exposures and find the correct one. It takes some testing and can be a bit awkward, but it definitely works. I used my old DSLR (funny to call my youngest camera old 🙂 ) as a light meter for a long time (I did not have a light meter) and it definitely worked.
