Light meters - do you need one?

I used spot metering until the late 70's and when cameras appeared with C/W'd metering I was happy with them; all this using slide film which is fussy.

Recently I wondered about C/W cameras and bought some slide films and tried them in a P&S and a few other cameras with C/W metering and was amazed how good they were just left on their own to decide things.
