John Gollings, the Australian architect and architectural photographer, was interviewed on ABC radio a few weeks ago and described his influences and training. He was very much open to the inclusion of people in shots, but the tradition of large format with slow film and small apertures for great depth of field all made for long exposures on tripods and such people as might have been about would disappear if they moved.
