Hi,
Does anyone know how these strange marks are made? It is not in the negative it is the result of scanning. Not all files have it. Some do, some don't. Perhaps it has something to do with the bending of the negative in the holder, or is there something else?
thanks,
rog

Called a newton ring from the film pressing against the scanner glass. Flatten negs or buy ANR glass inserts to do it for you
Here are the inserts:

Newton rings. Thanks for that glass suggestion.

I used to get those too, so now I know what I was doing wrong. Thanks! I asked betterscanning for some info on the 35/120 insert and got back a load of gobbledegook that even I, as a computer architect, could not understand.

You might like to look at this, especially if you want just ANR glass to go in your scanner-provided 120 or 35mm holder.
