That is the first I have heard of that one, is have always used the hexadecimal conversion method. Are there any other useful tidbits accessible in this menu? Can you get into trouble playing around?

thank you for the tips, mine has 27,000+ so the 7000 figure is relatively low.

A camera is meant to be used so snap on! :)

No trouble at all and you can get the lens ID and aperture estimated by the camera as well:
Turn the camera on.
Press the right arrow key 4 times.
Press the left arrow key 3 times.
Press the right arrow key 1 more time.
Press the info button.
Scroll down to "Sensor Test".
Press Set.
Turn camera off to exit.

Used one but just been service

Have a wonderful time with it! I bought mine about a year and a half ago from a dealer, with just under 4000 actuations on it. Had it serviced and have just loved it ever since. I just borrowed an M9 for a few weeks and did not lament returning it one but. If anything, playing with the M9 made me appreciate my M8 even more. It is such a great camera and the prices are relatively reasonable. Enjoy your journey with it and once again, welcome to RFF! Get posting some of your shots.

Cheers.

just checked mine for the first time since buying it last week: 14k+ actuations.

thanks for the tip on how to check, Coelacanth!

When I read this initialy, I thought this was a joke but it works!!!:eek::eek:

I used to use hexadecimal method which is quite cumbersome.

Thanks!!

P.S. Mine is at 17,027 clicks.

The menu has a number of options which are service related. You can look at them but don't be tempted to play is my advice. I have seen an anecdotal report of a user rendering the camera useless after "playing around" in these menus. I see no harm in the sequence proposed but I have not explored further.
You may understand what effect BFStatus being toggled on or off does but I certainly don't.

two years ago a new sensor + cla
few months ago new shutter + new back (screen etc) + cla (€750)
