How do you find out how many shot the camera did?

A simple google search will give you the steps, not real straightforward, but not har either.

I would say it is a good start! Are they all yours or did you get a used M8 like so many of us?

That is the first I have heard of that one, is have always used the hexadecimal conversion method. Are there any other useful tidbits accessible in this menu? Can you get into trouble playing around?

thank you for the tips, mine has 27,000+ so the 7000 figure is relatively low.

Have a wonderful time with it! I bought mine about a year and a half ago from a dealer, with just under 4000 actuations on it. Had it serviced and have just loved it ever since. I just borrowed an M9 for a few weeks and did not lament returning it one but. If anything, playing with the M9 made me appreciate my M8 even more. It is such a great camera and the prices are relatively reasonable. Enjoy your journey with it and once again, welcome to RFF! Get posting some of your shots.
Cheers.

I had one that was just fine as long as you didn't photograph smart phones. Had about 30k on it.

When I read this initialy, I thought this was a joke but it works!!!

I used to use hexadecimal method which is quite cumbersome.
Thanks!!
P.S. Mine is at 17,027 clicks.

The menu has a number of options which are service related. You can look at them but don't be tempted to play is my advice. I have seen an anecdotal report of a user rendering the camera useless after "playing around" in these menus. I see no harm in the sequence proposed but I have not explored further.
You may understand what effect BFStatus being toggled on or off does but I certainly don't.
