Lexerd Residue on M9P Display

The TrueVue screen protector was scuffed up so I wanted to replace it. As Lexerd recommends, I used some Scotch tape to lift away the screen protector from one corner. It came off easily but sticky residue now covers the screen. Any ideas for removing it? Lexerd says its screens don't leave behind residue.
 
A small amount of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) on a cotton swab would be a reasonable start. Just start with a small section to see how it goes.

Some rubbing alcohol products contain a small amount of lotion to minimize skin dehydration. Read the bottle contents and avoid this sort of product.

Use a small amount. Excess liquid could get behind the screen.

Do not rub hard.


Also, there are special cleaning fluids for computer, smart phone and mobile tablet screens. These may be useful as well and they will not contain lotion.
 
Even though I doubt you would ever need a screen protector on a sapphire glass, I would recommend a Brando ultraclear foil if you really desire to put one on again.
 
A screen protector on an M9-P could be called overkill I suppose. But I wouldn't use alcohol based cleaners, modern glues are usually petroleum based so try lighter fuel (naphtha) or turpentine/white spirit both applied frugally on a soft cloth. If you get any on these onto the surrounding area they will remove the patina of finger grease and leave a dull (but clean) patch, but the surface soon comes back to normal with use.
 
A drop of olive oil and a soft cloth will remove most adhesives.
 
Another vote for white spirit. Any agent containing acid should be avoided; this will damage the coating on the screen. As others have said, why use a screen protector on a sapphire screen?:confused::confused:
 
Don't want to sidetrack the thread but what is the best screen protector for a (non-sapphire glass) M9? Thanks.
 
AcMaxx looks great, especially if you use the screen for chimping. I only ever use the screen for menu setting, so a less-clear protector doesn't bother me, and I like the fact it doesn't have a frame and add thickness. I use Best Skins Ever product, which is the same as Zagg Invisible Shield except I could buy a large sheet of it for $9 enough to do many screens. I don't use their soap-spray method, just cut a piece about 1/4" larger than needed and apply it starting at one end using a piece of thick cardboard as a squeegee, then trim the excess with a straight-edge and a #15 Bard-Parker scalpel blade. I've never had to replace one, they don't lift and scratching them vigorously with a key fades in seconds. They use the stuff on the edges of helicopter blades.

BTW having had the sapphire screen on my M8U, I can attest that though the glass might not scratch, the coating sure does, and fairly easily. Didn't show when the LCD was lit, but when it was dark you could see a mass of scratches. Had I known I would've put a protector on it.
 
Just try windex. I clean my Macbook Pro with that and never a problem. Has worked well on my digital camera screens as well.

I bought a Nokia screen protector (2 $1.00) at my local Dollar Tree and would you believe it exactly matched the size of my M8 LCD panel! Also, they are the clearest plastic I have seen! Not bad for a buck! I plan to buy quite a few of them while they last! No residue on my screen when I peel off!!!

Tony's my go-to guy also, but the Giottos is a large piece of thin glass attached with a strip of double sided tape around the inside edge. That means there's space underneath which lets the glass flex if something impacts it. I know numerous people who had theirs crack, sometimes from hitting a metal coat button, sometimes in the bag, sometimes from unknown causes.

??? Then I might have been lucky and got a different version. It's entirely coated with some adhesive.
I wiped the display of the just unpacked M9, detached the Giotto screen from the foil and carefully placed it on the display.
Then I wiped it firmly onto the surface with a soft cloth. It attached perfectly, no bubbles, it is absolutely transparent to the eye.
There is no area at all where it is flexible. It fits so perfectly, you easily forget that it is there.
