Fuji x100 owners- will u buy the X-E1?

No, x100 offers me all I need. It's true I bought it only recently, but I don't see anything will change any time soon. In fact I think it's the best camera I've ever used. As somebody already said, FF x100 with 35mm lens would be something.

Since this thread began, I am a,lost convinced I should sell my X100 to purchase an EX-1 body as a back up to my XP-1. I decided to buy the 23/1.4 and 56/1.4 next year no matter what.

I find myself taking the XP-1 and leaving the X100 home most of the time. I should force myself to use the X100 more.

Don't get me wrong. The X100 is the best digital camera, I ever had. It's so close to my beloved Minolta CLE. My NEX-System was collecting dust, not more.

But: Sometimes I just miss the ability to change towards a longer lens. Last month I said to myself: You won't need something new. Only a fullframe CLE'ish like camera under 3k bucks would be worth buying.

Then I sold my NEX-7 and the lenses, as I heardly ever used them since I have the X100.

Then there came the X-E1. Okay, no FF, only EVF. If I really want FF and OVF there is still Leica out there. But the M's are too big and heavy to carry all the time. It's just that I know won't.

I decided to make an early order on the X-E1 in black. I try first with the 35/1,4, maybe the 18/2,0 will follow. I hope my M-Rokkor 28/2,8 will make my perfect zone focusing Streetmachine on the X-E1.

Last year I wouldn't have had any interest in a EVF-only camera. But since I use the EVF on the X100 more than 99 out if 100 shots, it must be sufficient for me. More so because the EVF of the new Fuji is the same OLED-Panel I know and like from my NEX-7. But it is behind the optical construction (2 aspherical lenses) of the X100, what I like even more. I don't care so much for the display, which is way better on the X-Pro (bigger + better resolution).

I hope it's not just G.A.S. and all the words above are bullsh...

I'd consider the X-E1 if I didn't already have scads of other cameras that I fully intend to keep. Even then, I'd have to weigh it up against the competition, like the Oly OM-D which already has a mature lens system, weathersealing and super IBIS. The X-E1 certainly is the SEX-Y1, though. It looks gorgeous, and the upcoming lenses make for a good kit.

The X100 still has a lot going for it compared with the interchangeable X cams, like a very quiet shutter, lightweight body, very fast lens and nice handling. The raws are also very manageable with LR4, whereas the X-Trans sensors images still have trouble with Adobe products.

I just bought the X100 in favour of the X-E1. I like the monastic, choice-free discipline of the fixed lens, the size, the clean top plate, and the bright, crystal-clear OVF. Most of all, I really, REALLY don't like the pop-up flash on the X-E1. Bleh.

I'm seriously considering the X-E1 (and X-Pro1). I do love my X100, but I really would like a 50mm equivalent lens. The 35/1.4 for the X system is supposedly superb.

I really wanted the Xe-1 until I picked up a X100 that I got offered. Now I have to say I would need the optical VF aspect. I have had NEX and M4/3rds cameras and never gelled with them but the X100 is lovely and its mainly down to the optical finder. The X1pro would be my choice now of the two interchangeable cameras but I think the X100 fills that space perfectly now

Patrick,

The XF 35/1.4 is superb.

After using it since April, it has become my third favorite lens among all those I've owned. I liked the C-Sonnar 50/1.5 and the M Biogon 35/2 better though I sold them when I abandonded film. The XF beats all my Nikon lenses, especially the newer G lenses, because it has practically no lateral chromatic aberration.

No, for the moment I will not invest in a ICL digital camera. But if I would, then in the X-Pro1. One of the main reasons for my decision in favor of the X100 was the optical VF.
