Mininum Number of Cameras to Own

I think the answer lies in the "Hitchhikers Guide" - the number is 42.
Minimum is not significant - but using 42 as an arbitrary number works for me - though I haven't counted them for a while - and they tend to multiply quietly.

While the mininum number of cameras one should own is three, the correct number is n+1, where "n" is the number of cameras currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where "s" is the number of cameras owned that would result in your wife filing for divorce.

That is funny! One wonders how many would be the minimum if both spouses are photographers, though.😛

I have about forty. From toy plastic cameras to toy plastic DSLR's (snide comment about digital). Only actually use two or three on regular basis.

Format range runs from 10X14mm Minolta 16II to 4X5 kit built view caamera.

PS; I become enamored for weeks with one camera, then switch to another for the next few weeks.

interesting thread... i have standardized on Polypan f 50 for slow film and Kentmere 400@800 for fast film. i try to use a different camera every day. so many affordable cameras now available and so little time...

I'd say 2, even as an amateur. Had I gone on holiday a couple of years ago with just one of my cameras, I'd have come back with a load of unexposed film, because it broke. Since then, I've always had at least 1 backup, and really, more than 1.
