Leica M Monochrom: best pics

When they tore down a building that had been an area landmark for over 50 years, they left the sign that had advertised the dentist and the other doctors. With the businesses no longer there, it seemed a little odd and a little sad to see the sign without the building.

M9M, 50mm Summicron, about f/4 to f/5.6.

Thank you! I love the files from the 246. It really lends itself to a moodiness that I quite enjoy. I will have to update my IG profile.
Wonderful subject, composition, and processing. Really like it.

BTW, I wanted to see your IG, but your signature links aren't working for me.

I followed Bill's suggestion here: I lowered the contrast and boosted the definition (clarity) slider for this M9M file.

But I think I mistook the definition slider for the clarity. Now I see there is a midrange contrast slider.

Rob I was surprised by Bill Pierce's heavy hand with clarity in the thread 'Silver'. I hardly touch it with the Monochrom or the M9. Seems to harden or maybe obliterate a lot of the midtones.

I've also been following Bill's "Silver" thread and am surprised at the preference for maximum clarity, which I use lightly. But I tried some of the recommendations. Such as this portrait in LR, with global contrast reduced and clarity way up.

Silver Efex has a midtone structure slider, so that would probably work, too. Not sure it's a "silver look," or even what that means, but it looks good to me.

Another experiment, this time in Silver Efex. Contrast way down in LR, then generous midtone structure in SFx, with a few local tweaks.

I had tried a few times to process this photo and was never satisfied. They always looked muddy, something I see a lot in Monochrom pics. But I like this rendering.
