Verona is definitely on the itinerary, if the trip will happen! I just saw on TV that many airlines are about to cancel over 1000 flights, including flights from Pensacola. It has to do with the weather and also staffing. There are not enough pilots after COVID-19.

Thanks for starting this thread, Raid. I very much enjoy your “what camera and lenses should I take” threads and the discussions that result. I voted for the 50/28, bc a 50 and a wide angle lens makes sense. For me, I learned that I’m mainly a 50/35 shooter; I’ve taken short teles on European trips but rarely use them. But… last September I picked up a used Leica CL digital and 18mm Elmarit lens (28mm equivalent) in great condition, and took it with me to Venice. Although I also had an M240 with me and did most of my shooting w/ the digital M, I enjoyed the small size and image quality of the CL with the Elmarit.

So… fast forward… my wife and I are headed to Prague, Dresden and Berlin in about 10 days. This time, I want to keep the camera gear light and simple. So I’ll be taking the CL digital with three lenses — the Elmarit 18mm f2.8, a Summicron-TL 23mm f2.0, and the Voigtlander Ultron 35mm f2.0 (which gives a 50mm equivalent field of view on the CL digital); and a Rollei 35S with some Tri-X and color film. So, two small cameras and some lenses that fit in a small bag. I love shooting with my Barnack Leicas, but taking time to change film can tax the patience of travel companions, so the Barnacks will stay home, as will my M240. In any event, the CL digital is nearly identical in size to a Leica IIIc, so it’s a compact and lightweight camerra.

I will return to Paris in September and will take the M240 and the CL digital. That will be a more photo-oriented trip, yet I will probably be shooting a 35mm and a 50mm on the M240 and use the Elmarit on the CL digital when I want something wider.

Your choices are very nice. I am trying out the light approach, with less weight to be carried around each day. I may "need" to buy a modern (small) digital camera that accepts my lenses.

Raid, I know you'll spent some time in Brescia: for your information there is an interesting exhibition about the Weston family of photographers.

Perhaps when your girls go shopping (you can give them your credit card!) you have time to visit the exhibition! I did not (yet?) but have been told it is very interesting.

This a great idea! Thank you Robert.

My wife and I recently went on a vacation to Norway. It was a Viking ocean cruise. I like architecture and generally photograph buildings when traveling where there are buildings. Our first stop was in Oslo which has a modern library voted “the world’s best” and a modern opera house. Both have won architectural awards. Knowing that we’d also see landscapes, I took my Sony a6000 with two lenses: A Sony 10-18mm f4 zoom and a Sony 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 zoom. All fit in a small camera case with a spare battery and extra memory cards. The battery charger went into my carry-on bag. I did not find myself wishing for another lens. I did use my phone camera for quick shots and a video of a UFO. No kidding - my wife spotted this rectangular thing sort of floating in the air. At first I thought a drone, but it seemed to be drifting rather than with purposeful movement. I now know why most UFO videos are so bad - it’s really hard to see a small thing against a bright sky. Why a UFO? Well, neither of us could identify it, it was flying, and some kind of object. I suspect it may have been a shaped balloon.
