I’ve got a button rewind M2 and the button doesn’t seem to depress. This is my first time handling one. Is there something I’m missing or have you ever see that before?

Depress at all or lock down? I think there's a known issue where the catch ceases working and it requires a service (I only have lever-winds so my knowledge is only anecdotal).
It should push in so that you can rewind film - have you tried advancing the wind lever, firing a dry shot, and then pushing the rewind button?

I’ll try firing the shutter when I get home.

On a lever rewind it pops up when you wind on the first time for the new roll. It might be easier with a junk roll in there as you would quickly tell if the wind-on mechanism was disengaged for rewinding.

No film in there right now. Are you saying it might be down already and won’t pop up until it’s loaded?

Spin the sprocket spool on the right side, just before the takeup with your thumb for a turn or so. That might cause the button to pop up if it hasn't. As winding and firing a shot with film in place does. The sprocket spool is what the button releases, and it might already be released (loose) and need to be turned to a spot where it can click back in.

This is the repaint from the classifieds. Doesn’t look depressed to me. Maybe give YY a call. Nothing like a dummy film to test it all.

Open the back, rotate the sprockets (trip the shutter if necessary) and see if that results in the button "surfacing."
