Thank you very much. I have an ongoing series on bouldering here. It's in Chamonix, France. I should get back soon and shoot some more before winter comesGreat capture, @Rikard! I'm still learning how to photograph climbing, but you did a great job capturing movement (and lighting) in this photo.

A lot of skate sessions with the slalom guys end up looking like this: endless fettling. Do I have the right bushings? Is my truck angle right for the course? Which wheels do I need? etc.
The demographic also skews considerably older than the skateboarding average - I'd say 55 is probably the median age for slalom skateboarding. It's not uncommon to see guys comfortably in their mid-60s rolling around in these sessions - sometimes with gear they've owned since the 1970s.

I was never a slalom guy. For that matter I was never that much of a skater period. But I hung on to a couple of my boards that I had owned since the 70s until finally selling them a few years back. (Like the hoarder that I am, I waited a couple of years after I had last skated just to make sure I was done with them.) Both boards had been made by Logan Earth Ski out of solid oak. One with Tracker Midtrack trucks and Sims Pure Juice Wheels, the other with Bennett Pro trucks and Road Rider 4 wheels. Why I can still remember such details when I can barely remember what I ate for breakfast this morning is a bit perplexing to me.View attachment 4850606

To be honest, I totally get it - those are some iconic bits of vintage equipment, more or less the Leica and Contax of their field and era. One of the guys in London still uses Tracker Midtracks (although there are much better wheels out there now than something like the old Road Rider 4s - urethane compounds have come a long way - a good truck design will always hold up), but most of the old slalomers who insist on using old guy swear by Lazers. Both boards had been made by Logan Earth Ski out of solid oak. I'm definitely more of a Tracker guy myself. Fultracks for freestyle, Sixtracks for bowl. And, until recently, they were both still made in the USA.
