Interesting. I had the SL typ 601, used M and R system lenses on it primarily. The control language of the SL601 seems a bit different from these later SL versions.
On thing I learned to do when using adapted lenses with almost any camera was to go to that section of the user manual that lists *all* the various settings options AND their implemented defaults. That provides a summary of the entire camera setup ... You can copy that list, determine what is/isn't apropos for a manual lens used on that body, and create a little cheat sheet so you can set up the body in a few seconds once it's been reinitialized rather than having to work through all the settings from memory.
The SL 601 worked very nicely with most Leica M lenses, and extremely nicely with the Leica R lenses. I'm sure the supplied Leica lens profiles were a part of that performance. 🙂
