1967 Toyota 1600 GT5 (2,222 units produced)
Released in August 1967 , this model was positioned as the younger brother of the Toyota 2000GT, which was released in May of the same year. The body was reinforced from that of the third-generation Corona 2-door hardtop (Corona 1600S, later model body).
Air outlets were added to the front fenders, and the fender arches were slightly larger than those of the Corona. The front grille and rear quarter pillars were fitted with an inverted triangular cloisonné emblem similar to that of the Toyota 2000GT, which added a stylistic accent. The car's image color was a bright yellow, which was not seen on the Corona. Other standard colors available included white, red, and silver.
