Show Off Your Nikon RF

That is a great setup, and hope to see you posting images here!
30 years ago- I picked up a Nikon S4 with the same lenses, overheard the salesman at a camera store tell an older gentleman that his camera was too old to be considered for a trade-in on an AF SLR. I traded him my Nikon AF SLR kit for it.

I finally got a chance to go out shooting with the SP. On the first day I used the 5cm/1.4. For a few reasons, I decided that I did not like that lens very much and returned it. To adjust the aperture, you have to either hold the lens with 2 hands or put it at infinity focus where it locks in place then it can be adjusted with one hand. I suppose if you are not shooting things close up, it’s not too bad, but that brings me to my other gripe. The focus scale on the camera (which are visible when using this lens) seemed to be wildly off compared to the viewfinder. At first, I assumed it was the viewfinder, but the focus seems more accurate with the 3.5cm and 10.5cm. I have not developed the roll yet, so this is all speculation. I also decided that I like the 35mm focal length better.

As for the camera body, it seems to be functioning correctly, but I find focusing with the viewfinder to be difficult. When I look through it, I see a bright (yellowish) area in the center which seems to block out my subject and I have to move it slightly to focus before shooting.

I’ve been trying my hand at some street shots using zone focusing, and I must say the shutter is whisper quiet compared to my F1 and FM2n.

I hope to get the test roll developed soon.

If you set the 50/1.4 or other lens that uses the internal mount: setting to infinity lets the "infinity lock" hold the lens still. Use this mainly for removing the lens, but it will also work for setting the aperture. Once the film is back- you may discover the Rangefinder needs adjustment. Best to test at infinity, and at closest focus.

S4 in hand today with the 50/1.4 & half case I got with my S2. The hippie strap started a long time ago on my mother's Canon AE-1...

have a beautiful 105/2.5 & a 28/3.5 that I plan to use with it as well. I have a roll of XP2 in it and two in the strap :) Time for some fun :D

Nothing special, I just got my cheap 28 finder in today to replace the same cheap 28 finder I misplaced and had everything out so a quick and dirty snap of my little selection:

My Zeiss Tessar red T 50/3.5 that Sonnar Brian put together is on my M 240 via my Amedeo so it wasn't included ;)

I traded 2 lenses for this Nikon S2 a few weeks ago. It's not perfect, but appears to be working and usable. I don't have a wide angle Nikkor. Will a Zeiss biogon be ok on it?20250509_215345.jpg

About 20 years ago when I bought my Canon Model P from one of the many camera stores in Seoul at the time, I wish I had known about the Nikon rangefinders but there were none at at the time. I envy you guys.

A good Canon P is a lovely camera too, don't sell it short. I do really like my S4 though :D

Nice, Tim. I have a CV 21/4 arriving next week to add to mine. After that I'll probably, eventually supplement my J12 with a Nikkor 35/2.5 but I'm pretty happy where I'm at now with the S4.
