Hello,

I recently bought a very nice Leica CL (film) camera with the original 40mm Summicron. The camera works great, even the lightmeter gives the right readings. Now I want a second lens, a 21mm Voigtländer 21mm F4.0 Color Skopar P-Type VM. On the pictures I see, that the lens enters the camera body quite a lot and the Leica CL has the lightmeter right in front of the curtain. Has anybody experience with this combination? Thank you very much!

Have a nice day!

Perry

I found this on the web regards the film Leica CL and lens compatibility (courtesy Photo.net):

"I measured the nearest part of the lightmeter mechanism when the shutter is cocked. It is a bit more than 12 mm beneath the mount and on the side, so you might be OK when mounted, but it is easy to touch it while mounting or dismounting a lens. The light sensor will sit around 15 mm below the mount in the center. You never want to touch that. Also it travels all the way from the side when cocking the shutter, so the full path must be clear. ..."

My Color-Skopar 21mm f/3.5 is the later version of the lens you're looking at so I can't vouch that the 21mm f/4 is the same ... but with this one the rear of the lens projects a maximum of 10mm behind the mounting flange surface, so it would work without problems (given that the above measurement information is correct).
