I still kick myself for not buying one of the Bessa Ls when the NIB cameras were being clearanced out for $69 back in the early 2000s. I was too stubborn that one needed a focusing mechanism when I should have appreciated this camera as the perfect platform for wide angle lenses in the sub 24mm category.64 years apart…

I’ve always wanted one of the Voigtlander “101” 50/3.5 Heliars and finally found one. Once it was here I got to thinking - what if I found a decent Bessa-L and use the Heliar on it with my Vogtlander Kontur occluded VF?
So I did.
I had a Bessa T back then but sold it when I found my M6, this would have been 2005 or so. The L has an even lighter build than the T but should be plenty functional.I still kick myself for not buying one of the Bessa Ls when the NIB cameras were being clearanced out for $69 back in the early 2000s. While at a garage sale last month I picked up a 90s camera bag. I asked the lady " do you have any gear to go with it" she replied "I do but its in the crawl space , you'll have to come back at a another time' so a month went by and I was able dig everything out. four suitcases of prints, slides and cameras. I only wanted two cameras Mamiya 645 Pro and a Fuji GSW 690 III Pro. She told me "I'm separating you have to buy it all" I made my offer she declined to low. She said "it's a camera in there that's worth good money" so I kept digging in bags and suitcases. There it was a Hasselblad X Pan II with two lenses hardly used along with other accessories. My heart racing I gave her another offer she gave me her final price it was a done deal. I ended walking away with six cameras, unused film stock, tripods and a truck full of other items. What was (were) your most recent purchase(s); why and when?
Been on a big spree lately, I don't know why. In the last two weeks I've hit yes to the following, all from users on RFF:
Canon F-1 (today - should arrive in 7-8 days, thanks christopher t!)
28/2.8
35/2
55/1.2
200/2.8
Olympus Stylus Epic (andredossantos)
Kodak Retina IIa
Nikon FG
Zoom-Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5
Series E 50mm f/1.8
The F-1 kit was too good to pass up; I haven't ever used or even liked Canon before but also feel brand-loyalty to be a little silly if you've never tried what else is out there.
The Retina IIa I've been hunting for a while, but got a Voigtlander Vito B and sort of forgot about it. The Stylus I got cos I couldn't find a Yashica T4 anywhere and wanted a nice little AF point & shoot 35mm.
The FG I got cos I still have a bunch of old NIkkors lying around and have regretted selling both my FM2 and F2A (to finance a Mamiya 6 years ago)
