What have you just BOUGHT?

Now I had to look up what a "curta calculator" is.
. . . .
Interesting device!
Fully mechanical and battery-free 🙂
But when I see the prices they're asking for, I'd rather buy a second SWC.
Which I won't do, though, because I already have one.
Maybe a 15mm Voigtländer for my Nikon rangefinder?
Or a 200/2 for my Nikon F2?
I'm sure I'll come across something that will tempt me.

As a mathematician by education and inclination, as well as a mechanical machine geek, the Curta calculator is an immediate "gimme gimme gimme!" kind of thing. 😉 I've been resisting for decades ...

There's always something...

Throw away your resistance.
As a mathematician by education and inclination, as well as a mechanical machine geek, you must have such a "device."
Believe me, you'll be happier if you do.
How long do you want to wait?
Until you die?
Then it will be too late.
Even in your coffin, you'll be annoyed that you didn't do it.

I pick up two cameras, a Rolleiflex T with case filters and hood. It works great. And I also got a Kodak Medalist 1 with the case, which looks new and working as well.

A dream camera, I have picked up (physically) a Medalist (need strength) but not much more. How does the 620/120 film thing work?

Macular degeneration. Very nasty shit that makes part of your vision dead. Easier to focus with the whole screen than just the tiny portion in the center..

Yes, I have it, too. My treatment has so far been successful, ~25 years at the VA. And, yes, a screen helps when shooting as does auto-focus. Some hobbies are hard to break habits. ;o)

I saw this reviewed on mathphotgrapher, one of two YT camera reviewers I follow closely and trust, and liked it. One thing that got my attention was being able to use the hood with a polaroid filter and be able to rotate the filter with the hood on. I like the polaroid filters for killing glare which brings up color.

In poking around the website I was able to find a 10% discount. I always like those.

Also got the AliExpress BP-SLC6 battery for the Q3 plus the charger. AliExpress says they have shipped.

I’ve had some happy finds at op shops the last few weeks. A Pentax K-5 with Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (like new) and a Pentax 18-250mm zoom (some fungus). I’m impressed with the K-5 as a compact walk around with this 2 lens kit. The Sigma is good for portraits. I bought a couple of Smallrig straps from Amazon during the sale.

Also a Nikon F90 with a broken aperture follower lever on the lens mount. It works fine in Tv mode. Plus a SB-28 Speedlight.

Nearly got one this past week, but was out-bid. Collectors go rabid for these things, punching prices up into the $2000-$3000 range. That's a bit pricey for me, for what is essentially a fascinating toy...

I vaguely remember seeing calculators like this before. But I never would have imagined they would fetch such a high price.
I checked an Austrian second-hand site. They have two for only €1,000 each.
