What have you just BOUGHT?

This Nikon and 50mm lens.
the FM3a looks excellent

I have a Nikon F3 and bought a Handmade Genuine Real Leather Half Camera Case Bag
from this chap in China - excellent quality

he also makes a half-case for the FM3a...........👍

I had a C35v a decade ago and still really like the images I took with it back then. I've looked here and there in the past few years to acquire one, but so many of them haven't held up to use and time. This one was at a local camera store with a price tag of $29.50, and it had a battery inside, proving the meter worked! The rangefinder patch on this model is surprisingly good.

I bought my Konica C35 on eBay in good physical condition and sent it to Ken Strauss who says he is factory trained on this model.
It seems to be working well, but I likely won't test it out thoroughly until next month on vacation. BTW they're great travel cameras.

HELP NEEDED 😡

well the Zorki 4K arrived today - absolutely minty - BUT

i cannot get the split images to overlap with the focus ring

I adjusted the dioptre setting to get a sharp image --- but even setting the focus to a known distance, there are still 2 images
whether I set the scale to between 1m to infinity

what am I doing wrong..?

You can adjust the RF for infinity but only with soviet lenses
From notes I copied by hand from Alfred Klomp and Rick Oleson
  1. Mount a lens and set it to infinity.
  2. There is a fat screw next to the VF window - flat head - unscrew it.
  3. you can see a tiny internal screw. Work it calibrating with an object far away (at least 100m) .
But Fedka has better instruction 🙂

Probably nothing, test at infinity (or close to infinity) and if they don’t match a slight adjustment is needed; for horizontal it is usually simple. There are many guides on line. I have not done Zorkis but early Leicas are straightforward if the grease is not solid.

May have gone overboard on the GAS lol.

Rollei A110 working, but I can't get the cover working, but it came with a case so I should just use it as is. Also a minolta 16 mg

Nikkormat FT2, couldn't resist this one at the antique mall, sold as stuck on iso 800, but I guess seller didn't know about the iso latch on the shutter speed dial.

Ricoh1757550704192.png 500gx, it works, but the meter is not responding. no corrosion on battery. Just did the light seals on it. Wish the meter worked, the aperture is annoying like the 35rcDSC05777.JPG

Many people don’t realize that most Japanese-made products with “cross-point” screw heads are actually JIS - Japanese Industrial Society - fasteners which are not the same as Phillips head screws, the angle of the recess in the fastener head is different.
What! There are cameras that have cross head screws? You will be telling me that some have batteries next!

hello from Scotland.

just joined - is there a 'Welcome' thread where i can do an intro..?

just bought a Zorki 4K - so expect lotsa questions

such as -
reading the Instuctions.pdf
I understand about shutter cocking before speed changes
somewhat shaky hands (84yo) so prob limited to 1/125
but why do they warn about moving the speed dial between 1/30 and 1 sec....?

maybe come clear when i have the camera to hand

I think it's because the shutter speed dial or the shutter mechanism in the camera isn't designed to (or can't) be rotated 360 degrees. Though having thought about it for a few seconds maybe the slow-speed escapement would put too much pressure on the spring?

Please don't take it that I actually know what I'm talking about, it's just that I've read "slow-speed escapement" mentioned in relation to shutters, so I'm guessing there's a slight posibility that I may not necessarily be completely wrong.

I bought some old stuff at the garage sale: Akarette with two lenses (Xenon 50/2.0 and Tele-Xenar 74/3.8), also soviet Mir (with Industar and Jupiter 11), Zorki 4k with Jupiter 8, KMZ turret viewfinder, Autoknips timer. 75€ for all of it. I will probably keep just turret viewfinder and J11, the rest will find a new home. But I will test that Akarette with Xenon and Tele- Xenar.

Nikon 105 2.5 Sonnar for F mount from the first year or close. What a nice lens, perfect for portraits of my dog. I don’t know why Nikon changed from the Sonnar to the double Gauss. Both versions are good, but this one is very nice. Very good lenses can be had for not much money. This is a bit like finding a really delicious wine that is only $10 per bottle.
