What have you just BOUGHT?

A 3.5 cm f/2.5 RF Nikkor in black finish. After checking with my copy of Robert Rotoloni's book, it seems that I snared one from the last edition of that lens with the cosmetics of the 3.5 cm f/1.8. It is nice to be able to set f/stops without having to peer into the front of the lens! I've got a roll in my S 2, so will shoot some tests when weather and time permit.

Decided to get back into film photography after a ten year hiatus (many life changes, mostly good ones) and ordered a beat-up M3 and the LLL Rigid Summicron copy. Will probably send the camera to the crew at restoration35 for a repaint at some point (hi Robert), and will likely lurk here a little more often. Glad film is alive and well! Tri-X and 5222-XX in HC110 will probably be my mainstays. Scanning with the Pentax Monochrome DSLR, which is a fantastic camera.

Cascadilla, just saw your username and realized we must live in the same town…in my case, just a few blocks from your namesake creek 🫡

I could've sworn I'd posted this previusly but I can't find it, so: Last week I bought a nikon SB-26 flash for it's rotatable head and it's slave ability. I also bought two 1/4" thread to coldshoe adapters for use with a Nikon SC-17 cord so I can put either of my Nikon flashes on either of my two brackets and use the TTL ability should I wish to. It's taking quite a while for me to saw through the threaded parts to make them shorter so the flash doesn't look like it's in quite so precarious a posoition when mounted on the adapter.

I'd be interested to hear more -- with battery-dependent cameras it's often a case of installing fresh batteries (or batteries to begin with). But failing that, I'm not sure what you mean by "patience."

As for the Minolta, I'd love to find an XE-7. I have an XE-5 and it's about the smoothest working camera I've ever used. However, the Auto setting is not overly reliable anymore, so I set the shutter speeds manually.
Patience... because it's necessary to proceed step by step to identify the problem and perhaps find the solution.

First of all I would check if the problem remains even when shooting with the mechanical shutter speed of 1/90 (I think the XE7 has the mechanical shutter speed at 1/90, in addition to the B mode).
If the problem persists, it could be an electronic issue.
At this point I would clean the fuel compartment, sometimes even if there are no visible traces of oxidation the problem lies in that area.
I would put in new batteries and put it away again.
You should also check the mirror seals, as they may sometimes be damaged and stick to the mirror (difficult... but it's worth checking).

Since Jan, when I hadn't touched a film camera in 20 years....
2x nikon f2 (and nikkor primes from 20 to 105)
Leica iiif
Canon ivsb2
Canon 7s
Nikon sp and 50 1.2
Mamiya 645 and 45mm
Focomat 2c
Various ltm from jupiter 8, industar 61ld, 35 2.8 C, 50 3.5 C, elmar 90.
Three light meters, gosen, sekonic l228 (I like this!).
Going to slow down now!

Just walked out of a charity shop with this in my hands. I paid £10 as they were told it was not working properly.

Had the mirror up and the self timer engaged. When I pushed the On/Off switch to the On position, the self timer completed the action. The X and B speeds work properly.

I have 10 days to return it if it is not working ok. I need to put batteries when I am back at home to test the rest of the speeds. Viewfinder looks very nice 👍
How did you solve the
mirror problem?

Awaiting some 10mm leather strap and rivets to make a new strap for my Bessa case. The case itself is in great condition. The strap had had it. I don't tend to keep cases as they tend to be old and manky, but this one is a bit special and I have plenty of 6x9 folders that will fit in it. Annoyingly, though, not my Moskva or Super Ikonta.

ETA- they hit the doormat about 5 minutes after I posted!

It was easy in my case. It was a combination of depleted batteries and someone setting off the self timer whilst the on/off switch was on "off".

I firmly but carefully rotated the switch to On and I heard the self timer mechanism engaging and releasing the shutter and the mirror. I put a set of fresh batteries and it works fine. Forcing the On/Off switch like a did is a risky thing to do - it usually breaks and then you have a camera permanently off.
