What have you just BOUGHT?

Here is the twenty dollar 40/2.8 pancake I mentioned recently, next to the twenty dollar 50/1.4 that was also at a local shop. A pair with nary a mark, perfect glass.

Great catch. I still have and use the 50/1.4 but sold my 40/2.8 long time ago. I was probably unlucky with my sample.

Interestingly, people refer to the 40 as Tessar 4 elements in 3 groups. Pentax seems to disagree (although probably a modified Tessar)

I bought a Voigtländer 40mm f1.2 Nokton II Aspherical VM lens.

I've been using the 40mm focal length quite a bit lately for my street photography and so I thought I'd give the Voigtländer version II a shot. After one outing I can say this lens is a keeper. Here's one from yesterday.

All the best,

Smith-Victor CS36 copy stand $200 well worth it for the quality and accuracy.

using Nikon Z6, 105/2.8 MC and a cheap LCD flat tablet-shaped light for 120 scans.

I don't expect the 40 to be a great performer, but for a sawbuck, can't pass it up. The ME Super and the 40 is for all practial purposes the same size as my Pen FT half frame...

Just bought (But expect delivery in April--a very rare pre-order from me.) a Micro Mark table saw.
Not Directly a photography thing but I am mostly done with drawing plans for a 4x5 camera that will be the saw's first use.

An auction find - a Topcon RII. It's in pretty good condition for a 65 year old camera. Interestingly, it's almost exactly the same size and shape as a Praktica FX, and shares the position of the shutter release with the Praktica. The lens mount, though, is Exakta, although this camera has an internal diaphragm stop down.
Yours is one of the last ones made. Nice find!
