The Mandler 35mm f2

What was the field of view like before it broke? I've seen some people say it's more like 45mm or even 50mm than it is 35mm. Kinda defeats the point if it's basically a 50mm viewfinder!
I have that LLL WEISU. It is tiny, very bright and clear, BUT has very poor eye relief. Its view is close to 35mm only if you don't wear glasses and push your eye very near to it. Or else it is more like 45mm or 50mm.

Leitz SBLOO gives a big and clear view, but it's kinda huge sitting on top of a Barnack camera. Personally I found the VC and the Acall one excellent, not so huge and offer bright and undistorted view. The Acall VF even has parallax offset. (I know Leica purists may not be interested and that's ok.)

Life is trying to stop me trying this lens. I was planning to take it out this afternoon but I slipped on some mud doing the market and now I’m sitting in the hospital waiting for them to take some photos instead. Nothing serious I hope, just very swollen ankle, but better to have it checked.

Better to slip with the shopping than with the Leica/Mandler.

Get well soon, hope it’s as minor as possible. Look after yourself.

Thanks, but no testing the Mandler for a while. After two sessions of xray and one of MRI I was sent home with crutches and my leg in plaster. Apparently it was a double fracture. Totally off topic but the French health service is amazing and I have always had great service. Time to start doing all those CLAs I never got round to.

Oh no! Wish you a speedy recovery!

I have received the chrome ltm version of Mandler 35mm lens last night, just 4 days after placing the order. The lens is well built and quite a bit heavier than my black v4 35mm Summicron. Can't wait to test shoot half a roll of double-x with this lens today.

Below are two random test shots at Little India. I found this lens pretty sharp and can focus accurately on my M4. Quite happy with it.
