Next M8 shipment?

I was asking at my 2 local (Amsterdam, NL) dealers yesterday and both are expecting shipments next week. One told me they had received 20(!) in the first shipment and had ordered 30 for the next one. If they get them all one of them should be for me. Fingers crossed.

My dealer in London has told me he should have mine at the end of the month but it's likely I won't receive it untill the new year. I guess that means it will probably arrive at the dealers in the few days between Christmas and the New Year.

So it looks like anyone considering ordering after Christmas can figure on March-April 07, maybe by next summer the back log will be gone and you will be able to get one on demand. Trying to figure out when to put all the Canon gear on eBay- can't be without a camera.

I am pleased to see there is so much demand, perhaps Leica can remain solvent in the digital age after all. Not much room for niche players in a market that is only cost effective for manufacturers with very large volumes.
 
Thanks for the tip Jorge, Need to finish up on a catalog and series of print ads first. Can't change horses in the middle of a project. I will be looking post new year at which point I'll contact Tony.
 
Hans, Foto Nivo Schweitzer, (Haarlemmerdijk 114) are the ones hoping to get 30. But I was no 29 so you'd better be quick! The other one - I think they're just called Pro-Photo, but I could be wrong - on the Nieuwendijk were less specific. He said they had a list of 10-15 and were expecting "some M8's" perhaps this week. Neither winkel took a deposit, they both just took my number and said they'd call me when they had an M8 for me.
 
My camera store called me today. They had an M8 if I wanted it, but I decided to pass for now. I'l stick to the MP - can buy a lot of film for 4700, and I wasn't so sure it was the upgraded, second shipment, and I am want to wait and see how the chips fall before I fork over that kind of dough. It was tough to pass on it though, maybe one of the hardest decisions I had made.
 
It was the right decision. In about six months the waiting list will be gone and you can be sure of getting the camera with all of the post-release fixes. No rush.

I was just contacted by my dealer, no M8s until February. I did order a black one. I was hoping to have one by the end of this year. At least now I know the one I will receive won't have all the current bugs .

Popflash just emailed me that my M8 arrives there tomorrow. Anyone else heard anything? Nice Christmas present huh?

Did you both get silver? I am waiting from popflash and he said I could get mine fairly soon if I wanted silver (I am already in line), but that black would be February or March in all liklihood.
 
Mine's black, but I've had a deposit on it since ~June, If you were to order now I bet it would be a couple of months.

I received a call much to my surprise on Tuesday that a silver M8 was waiting for me if I still wanted it. It arrived by FedEx late this afternoon along with a silver ZM21 :D.
 
I'm green with envy.
I've been waiting for my order for sometime. Called the dealer today to ask when the shipment was arriving. His response was shocking. He just burst out laughing like I was and idiot (probably am anyway, but that's not the point!) and said "no information"!

Get a different dealer. Can you imagine how he will react when / if you have an issue? Popflash that should be your dealer for sure.
