A sudden desire for Leica M lenses...

Hi,

my name is Ondrej, and I have a problem.

When I only had fixed lens RFs, everything was fine, but once I stepped into the world of interchangable lensed RFs I was lost...
While I only had Zorkis and a Bessa R - all with LTM - the Jupiters seemed good to me. Now that I have a Bessa R2 - with Leica M bayonet - I lust for Leica M lenses... I added a couple of M lenses to my watch list: Elmar-C 90/4 and Elmar M 50/2.8 and a couple more...

I guess the reason is, that my Bessa R had been recalibrated (by me) to work with FSU lenses. Now I have the R2, with original calibration, and I'd prefer not to touch it and buy leica standard lenses instead... I could recalibrate the R2 for FSU lenses and buy a couple of LTM-M adapters instead, but I'm not sure...

Please help! I need a good advice... why not to buy more lenses (?)... to recalibrate or not to recalibrate (?)... please 😕
 
Try a focus target test with your J8 on an adopter. If it is out a long way sell the lens and get another, you can assure buyer that it is relubed, shimmed and works ok on a FSU camera. You could make a living doing this, when you get one within tolerance buy it a filter.

BS reworkes H103 (and clones) for Nikons... I think he will confirm that the H103 have a central spacer, so they might be easier to rework perhaps you have the wrong bessa body...

Man, you're in deep now. There is only one way to go now and that is down, deeper and deeper...

A second hand elmar is not that expensive and you can probably sell it with little or no loss if you don't like it. Problem is that once you've tried elmar, you'll want to try summicron and then summilux etc. This is where it gets expensive...
 
1) Buy a 50mm Nockton and ltm-m adaptor
2) find a better lens (from any manufacturer)
3) Work very hard to afford to buy it

I’m getting old, that sounds sensible…………sorry

Check this out; I've had the Summaron 35/2.8 for 35 years.
It is my ONLY 35. A lot of guys however, like the CV 35/2.5 Skopar.

My advice? Leave the FSU lenses for your R screw mount.
Get a good used Leitz M-mount for the R2. It'll cost you, but
you'll never regret it.
