I picked a 40mm f2 Summicron from our RF member forum here few days ago and have been trying it on my M8. Oh what a lens for its age . This lens gives me my 50mm view back on my M8. The contrast and sharpness are every bit as good as modern Leica lenses. Here are the pics

Hi Charles,
Ever tried an IR-cut filter with it?
Any cyan shift?
Just curious.

There's one for sale right now in the classifieds (not mine).
I like this lens for film- a 'creaminess' to the pictures that I don't get with other lenses, yet plenty of contrast and sharpness.

how is the framing accuracy? Better than with a 35?

To all - I'm having problems loading my pics to a faulty multi-card reader. By the way I use the existing 35mm frame on the M8 for my framing. The 40mm f2 is every bit as good as my 50mm f2 Cron current version consider its age. I shoot outdoor alot and so far don't see purple fringing issue or anything like that. I don't use AWB on my M8 - I either set it for daylight outside or indoor for shades. The lens is so good I just bought an CL to accompany my new found love.
