Canada canadian rff meeting - May 19, 20, and 21, 2007.

Friday night we'll go out for a few beverages in the evening, and maybe we can have dinner, too. As far as I know, there are only a couple of us in town on the Friday.

Asking for a resaurant recommendation for Montréal is a bit like asking the guy at Home Depot to recommend a nail! Schwarz's is great for smoked meat sandwiches, and if you are concerned about the decor there, you're not paying enough attention to your sandwich.

There are innumerable restaurants along Ste-Catherine, St-Laurent, and St-Denis, as well as a few good places on Amherst. A bit further west in downtown you'll find Crescent Street packed with restos and bars. It's a popular street with tourists, and apparently becoming more so with the locals, too. In the areas between and around St-Laurent and St-Denis, you can also look for restos on Mont-Royal, Duluth, and Prince-Arthur.

Schwartz is very nice for the smoked meat. The only problem is that it's so famous that there are ridiculous line-ups. It's going to be a long weekend so the line will be twice as ridiculous. And once you're in there, you better gobble up your food or they will tell you straight to go pay and f... off. That's the charm...

As BJ said, there are tons of restaurants. Living on the Plateau for about 13 years, I know the area quite well. Downtown is very different. It really feels like another city. There are nice places but not as many as on the Plateau.

Friday and Saturday nights, I will most likely work at the club (Bar Le Passeport). Friday the 18th should be pretty wild (or at least very drunk) since it's the manager's birthday party. Saturday should be the usual party atmosphere we have. Don't worry, those are not kinky events and you should be able to show pictures to your better half. ;o)

Is any one going to have a Bessa R4 in Montreal for people to look at.... or do you want me to see if I can get one to show.

I tried to get the two new pancake lenses to show, but they wont ship in time.

So what's the fun in that? :p

Bessa in Montreal

You could check in with Jean Bardaji at Camtec Photo on Rue Notre Dame just down from the cathedral. He is the local Leica dealer who I beleive is now carrying Voightlanders

I'm out, Peewee tourney in scenic Mississauga.
Have a great time everyone, missing this one really hurts. I'll have to enjoy it vicariously through your photos, so make sure you take some pics of the food and French girls.
Regretfully,
Mike

You forgot me! ;)

Thanks for including me on the original list way back when, but as it turns out, that is the only weekend I can take my wife anywhere for our 20th anniversary. I considered taking her to Montreal for a long weekend :D, but I don't think she would appreciate the ulterior motive. Have fun; maybe next year?

I am still tentative pending family issues. Hopefully Saturday I will have an idea of what the next few weeks will look like.

I think BJ’s list in post 291 is correct, except that Rover might not make it. I’m also in, haven’t checked the thread for a while. BJ, I’m staying at the hostel, but wondered how we would get in contact on Friday. Rover, hope things work out for you to make it. I’ll call the hostel this weekend, as we won’t fill a room up completely.

Joe, are you there? Will you be there?
