I'm still deciding on the general plan. I might be something like this:
- Friday night we can do beers somewhere like Le Ste Elisabeth or a microbrew like Le Cheval Blanc
- Saturday morning street shooting at a market (most likely Marché Jean-Talon, which also puts us in Little Italy)

- Saturday evening, weather permitting, sunset over the city at one of the two belvederes on Mont-Royal (this might be tricky on public transit)
- Saturday night, free to party as you please

- Sunday early afternoon will be the model shoot for those who choose to join in
- Sunday night, dinner and drinks, most likely at the Claremont Cafe
- Monday morning, you get up at 4:30am for the sunrise and tell the rest of us what it was like

There is so much to do, not everyone will necessarily want to follow along. There is the Plateau to explore, downtown, the Port, the botanic gardens, etc etc etc... We'll make it up as we go along, for the most part. How's that sound?

I cannot speak for the rest of my party... but I do know that most of the places you have listed take a 30+minute Metro ride, and then walk to get to on the Plateau. I know that I will likely be staying between on the Green and Orange lines in the downtown area... Atwater Market... Lachine Canal... Old Port... Botanical Gardens... etc. I've never been much for the Plateau, personally. 🙂

I'm not sure we're talking about the same "Plateau"... I'm referring to the neighbourhood between (more or less) de Maisonneuve (south edge) and St-Joseph (north edge), and Papineau (east, maybe a bit far) and Parc (west). The orange line runs right through that neighbourhood, so it's easy to access. There is tons of good shopping, and a real mix of people, so it's interesting for street shooting, if that's your thing.

Montreal is a big city, and it sometimes it's worth a trip on the Metro, because when you pop back up from underground, it feels like you've changed towns. If the weather is good, Marché Jean-Talon can be like fish in a barrel for street shooters. Like I said before, we're going to play it loose, and you're not required to follow the group. It'll be fun to see pictures afterwards that were taken in places we didn't all see.

Hub, that's exactly the Canal Lachine area that I'm referring to. That area starts around Metro Lionel-Groulx, and heads east to the port. And, I don't think we'll head to Laval to see the new Metro stops, unless there is significant interest in going there.

I had no doubt about that. I took these pictures 🙂 It was more to show to people who don't know what you were talking about.

I would have shown Marché Jean Talon, but I don't have them online.

We are actually talking about the same plateau... unless they up and moved it since I lived there... LOL In all honestly, the plateau area has never been my thing. It takes too long in my opinion to get to Jean Talon Market... when I could cover more downtown area with a leisurely walkabout. Just my opinion. 🙂

Yes it is a big city... and if the weekend was longer, personally I would venture for longer Metro rides and bus about it... but time is limited, and I also have friends/family to see.


C'est la vie! I am sure we will all meet up at some point....
 
I'll be attending some religious ceremony on Sunday mornie 🙂

Outside of that I just hope to see everyone 🙂 I'm just THAT type of guy.....

Well, I have to apologize to everyone, I am very disappointed that I have to decide to miss Montreal next weekend. I have mentioned before that my father is having health issues. They continue, he is having testing this week and will most likely have some procedure next week to start addressing his problems. I have also been invited for some test by my doctor. You may have noticed that I have not been able to post as often in the past couple weeks, I am having a bit of a bad spell which will include missing out in the fun next weekend.

I am truly sorry.

For you Toronto guys, I will be watching for your get togethers, and I will make my way to Toronto soon.

I hope all you guys have a great time. Montreal is a great city, I miss visiting there and will be thinking of you guys next weekend.

Just a few more days to go!

I'm getting excited about this event, and can't wait to see you all here in Montreal. For all of those who are still waffling, I encourage you to come out for at least one day. Please come out to join us!

Where are you staying? You'll likely want to check in and drop your bags before heading out. We can meet you then, too, or hell, we could even arrive en masse at the train station and swarm you!
