Ive Had a Minolta himatic and a Canonette but both need bateries a nikon 401 and 801 with 2 sb22 flashes, some lenses and other bits Im waiting on a few more and have to go to collect an enlarger.

Very nice Chris. It's the only one SLR that I would love to have. I have the MX, but this one ... wow. Removable finder, a wide range of focussing screen. And its look!

Talking of SLR's, I played with a Rolleiflex SL35 yesterday. It's so far the only piece of rollei equipment I'm not impressed with!! 😀
 
More SLR stuff: just got me a Zuiko 50/1.4; price - next to nothing, 263 SEK, that's less than 40 US dollars.

I love 50's!

The Zuiko 50/1.8 is a great optic, so I have high hopes about the 1.4. Just wish they'd mount on my M3 ...

Nice LX Chris- I had two of these many moons ago- they went all over the country many times with me. Brassed like mad. They were beautiful, but the Pentax glass couldn't get me what I needed to get for work, so I had to let them go in trade for the Nikon kit.

Thanks. It needs a service unfortunately - sticky mirror syndrome. I'm negotiating with the seller; hoping for a contribution towards the CLA. The Pentax glass is more than adequate for my needs, and I've acquired two of the Pentax Limited lenses, which I'm looking forward to trying with some fine-grain B&W film.
 
Chris, the sticky mirror may be simply due to deteriorated (and guey) mirror bumper foam, along the top edge of the mirror box. This is an easy fix.

Frank's right, that's the cause of the sticky mirror. It's quite easy to fix, cheap service (even in Europe! 🙄 ), no need of a complete CLA.
 
No - in this case I think it is something deeper. The camera will not focus to infinity. The mirror is not resting at the correct point, and thus with the lens at infinity, the split-image on the focusing screen is not aligned properly. The service person I have contacted describes it this way:

Hello Chris and thank you for your inquiry.

There are two services for this camera. A basic maintenance service, clean-up and replacement of back seals, mirror cushion material, and mirror stopper (most common cause of sticking mirror and sometimes poor focus). Service includes external clean-up and internal dust-out, calibration check and test. The cost is up to $165.- including all materials.

The second option is a complete overhaul, where the camera is stripped down, all internal contacts and switches cleaned and checked. Internal clean and lube as needed, all adjustments. Most important is the replacement of a rubber stopper in the AV operating mechanism which also causes the sticking of the mirror operation. If the replacement of external cushion and mirror stopper does not solve the problem then this is the only service that will. The cost of this service is $330.- and comes with a 12 months warranty.

If your camera has not previously had a general service then it is best to be prepared for the cost of this service.

Upon receipt of your camera we can confirm whether the internal AV rubber stopper part is also faulty.

The prices might appear high by US standards, but we don't have as many options (= competition) down here, and people that have actually worked on these old cameras are rare. Postage will be cheaper too dealing with a local.

I have a former student who got two of these- they are quite stunning- far and away better than any 35mm Pentax glass I ever had.

As to the repair- have to asked Matt Fuehrer for a quote? He always worked on my Nikon F4's and does an exceptionally nice job, plus gives a 1 year warranty on anything else going wrong with the camera after he's worked on it. I always send SLR's to him.
