I was looking online at the cost of the no-brand magnifier vs the Leica magnifier and the price difference is shocking. Its for an M7

Tell me the Leica one is over priced and the other just as good, or is it?

There are a handful of versions to choose from available.

I use the Leica 1.25x mag adapter on my MP, but I bought it before the prices were so outrageous (I think I paid $200 for it - new). Some time ago I purchased a .85x de-mag from a supplier in Japan, which is almost up to Leica standards, but it wasn't cheap either (~$150).

I do not have any experience with the HK models (there are at least two), but they look like they would do the job. I would probably give one a shot considering how inexpensive they are.

I too have not used/seen the Leica version, but I bought from a fellow RRFer a MAP camera 1.35X VF magnifier. While it does not accept diopters, it does have built in diopter adjustment. It's well made and works fine. The downside is that apparently it's sold only in Japan. There's a thread on it here http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9308

I've got 2 of them...One on .85 VF M6 when I use a 75 Summilux and the other on a .72 VF M6 when I use a Canon 50/1.2. I've been happy with their performance, the small case works out on my straps and I can't imagine anything that the Leica version is going to differently enough to justify that kind of money. YMMV

I've got the Leica version, and I really can't see why I need it on my M3. It's still attached to the strap, but I never use it. Rather a waste of money. And it doesn't fit the Epson R-D1, either.

Why do not sell it?

I need one...

I had the HK version, but found it stuck out from the back too much for my taste- I kept getting it hung up on my shirt, and going in and out of the bag. Then I sold the Rollei 80, so had little need for it any longer.

It did work well, getting a good view for the longer lens, but just annoyed me.

I have the Leica version, and also bought it before the prices skyrocketed. I like it on my M6TTL with .58x VF whenever I'm shooting a lot with a 50mm. I picked up an Elmar 50/f2.8 a few weeks ago, and the magnifier has never left the camera since then. I don't know about the copies, but the Leica version has a nice rubber edge to protect my eyeglass lens from getting scratched up.
