100 pictures from the last two days in istanbul

This post is to describe tonight.

First, in the early morning Efdogan declared that his patience is over and said "We will respond in the language they understand". This is a common phrase in Turkish, he simply says we re gonna use heavy police force.

Second, around 70 lawyers were arrested because of supporting the protest. It was unbelievable; police broke into the "justice palace" in istanbul, used violence, dragged the lawyers on the floor, pulled them, shouted them, kicked them and then arrested.

Third, the governor of Istanbul declared "We will not be responsible of what's going to happen in Taksim Square tonight. We request people to leave the square". This was a declaration of death, tonight is going to be hell for the people remaining in the park.

Hear us, this is an international forum, please talk this with your friends, colleagues, anyone. Istanbul needs your help, we need your help.
 
CNN and MNBC have many reports and it is repeatedly stated by "experts" that the US government will not lecture President Erdogan what to do. They have too many joint interests.
 
Care for yourself. It is obvious that the day pictures were staged and I am surprised that journalist have bought that. Now the world had seen that protesters are not peaceful . So the violence can begin. And Obama and US major civil wrights groups can't complain. In our protest we always cry to people who have masks to put them away. So no provocateur can hide.
 
just checking back in, i'm alright. although i was so lucky so many times that it feels like i was not supposed to be alright by now.
i have been around taksim all day and will go out again. i slept for 3 or 4 hours last night and have been shooting since 8 am. i need a double espresso. :)
 
Whoever has been taking photos and posting them has done a significant contribution here. Take a rest. Stay safe.

They are showing lots of tear gas in Taksim Square.
The discussions seem to focus on 500 years of Islamic ruling of the Ottoman Empire versus the last 90 years of secular ruling.
Erdogan may be leaning towards the Ottoman ruling.
 
Be careful Simon, Muhammad and others, your tiredness can impair your judgment.

You're worth more to the good cause when healthy and unharmed! You've done more than anyone could possibly expect from you when all this began! And, I regret to say, nobody can save that good cause all by themselves...

He want that Ottoman empire today and his politics show that clearly. He even try to have influence in our political life ( I mean Bulgaria), but that will never happen. Past should stay in the past!
 
Yes, it is a scary situation, Robert. There seems to be a domino effect in the Middle East that started with Iraq. Iraq has been taken back 100 years.

The live stream I saw on dutch TV this morning was shot from the tall building in the back of this shot, and it clearly showed the 'alleyway' that is in the foreground of your shot, I could look down that alleyway from beginning to end.

I may have seen you run across my TV screen without knowing it was you.
You have been very close to that water cannon that was torched with a molotov cocktail, right?
