Does anyone know if the 12504 hood can be reversed on a 35mm 'cron v1 without hitting the focus tab/infinity lock? What about on a 50/2.8 Elmar with infinity lock?

It's not a matter of hitting the infinity lock. Mine jus doesn't want to go on either the 35 or the 50. The 12504 was designed for the 35 Summilux and can be used on the 35 Summicron. Just use a 12585 on your 35 'cron version 1 and 50/2.8 Elmar. It'll reverse on the Elmar at least, although I'm not sure about in the fully collapsed position.

Hmm, strange that the 12504 will fit on a newer 35 'cron but not the older, while the 12585 will fit on both.
I have both the 12585 and an IROOA, and neither can be reversed on the 35/2.8 Summaron (exactly the same dimensions as the v1 'cron, I believe) nor on the 50/2.8 Elmar in collapsed position.
I have a screw-in 12549 (designed for the modern Elmar-M) that fits very nicely, but that makes the lens not so compact in collapsed position.
I've been contemplating using a small round file to cut a notch in the rim of the 12585 to accommodate the focusing tab on the Elmar, but that might be sacriliege, no?

The black paint 35 cron-M ASPH comes along with the black paint 12504 lens hood and so the retro style 1968-2003 LHSA 35 cron-M ASPH with hammertone 12504 lens hood.

I have a 35 cron version 3 from 76' with the original 1504 hood and I was wondering the same. I think it's not designed to be reversible, mine hits the focusing tab.

The 12504 shade WILL fit the 35mm Asph Summicron (and, IIRC, any version prior).

It is NOT reversible on ANY lens - designed to unscrew in order to take series VII drop-in filters and the inner rim will prevent the shade from being reversed.

Ah yes, the filter retaining ring. Oh well, I was hoping that, since the 12504 is lower-profile than the 12585 that it might work -- but I guess not.
I'll just have to find a cheap, beater 12585 and modify it to reverse on my Elmar 50.
