15mm on M8

Can you please tell me should I go for the Monster Distagon 15 2.8 or the tiny VC 15?

This is a tough question or an easy one, depending on what parameters you set. What do you need it for? How much do you use 15? What kind of resources do you have? What other lenses do you have/want?

Fuwen on this site had the ZM briefly and posted some shots on his blog.

I'd buy the CV, save up or redistribute as the case may be, and get one of the new Leica summiluxes (21/1.4 or 24/1.4) if it were me.

I need 21mm perspective (90deg diagonal) on M8 preferably with less distortion as possible, i couldn't find any relative distortion charts for VC 15mm or even an mtf.

Well, I've used both, and the Tri-Elmar too.

Personally I'd back the Tri-Elmar but can't afford it. If I needed the speed, and didn't already have the Voigtländer, the Zeiss might be in the running. But it's huge and expensive, and the Voigtländer is tiny and cheap, and I don't use 15(20) much, so the 24/1.4 is a higher priority when it comes to fast wides.

Here was a lot of valuable stuff. As advice on how to cope: 'Living in the cheap in this fragile economy'. Might come handy. In this perspective, the VC 15 is just perfect.

The Distagon is a superb lens. I have used mine on my R-D1 and M8. Other than the 28/2 ASPH, I find the Distagon to superior in every way to Leica w/a lenses. The new Super Elmar is rangefinder coupled and less money, but the Distagon focuses much closer and is brilliant at f/4. If you want max performance, I would buy the Distagon. If you want usefulness and better resale, buy the Super Elmar.

I'm still in the loop for a wide angle, I sold nearly all Nikon gear last month to fully get into RF but am hanging on to an F100 with Sigma 17-35EX for the time being,

Then the Heliar will be my weapon of choice, thanks to the review from the link!

i have settled on zeiss for all my lenses but i doubt that my budget will ever allow for the zm 15, so the new cv 15 will likely be my choice for the rd1, unless i get a great deal on the ltm version.
