1954 50 f2 summicron collapsible lens haze.

I just received a vintage 1954 50 f2 Summicron collapsible lens. I took a quick test roll, every thing looks good considering the age of the lens. There is a fair amount of haze & a few little spots on the lens. With Fuji Reala 100 color film it looked ok. Does anyone know how much it might cost to clean the haze from the lens? Please let me know if you have had it done, or if some haze will hurt too much to leave alone. Thank's

DAG cleaned my hazy, collapsible 50/2.0 Summicron back in 1995. I forgot what it cost, but $100.00 - $150.00 is probably what it would cost today. Definitely worth doing in my book. You'll be amazed at the increase in contrast after you have it cleaned.

I sent my 1960 50mm f2.8 Elmar to Sherry. She assessed the lens before she began the work and assured me it was worth it to clean out the haze on my particular example. Three weeks later I have a lens that is as clear as a new lens and has been re-lubed and adjusted to boot. Now this old lens has a sparkling clarity and signature I just love.

I had DAG do the the work on a collapsible 'Cron I used to own - about $125 IIRC. However he's overwhelmed of late with work. I also had great results with Eddie Smolov doing my Contax mount 5cm/2 collapsible Sonnar for only $30.

You owe that Summicron a good cleaning 😀 and it will repay you many times over.
