2011 FSU contest.... anyone...?

I'm in.I get to select between Kiev 4a, 2a, Fed 1 or Zorki 1. I think lens selection should also be limited to FSU.

A dud!

A dud!

We had a 2010 contest last year but it was a dud. The organizer defected and I don't think a winner was ever declared.

Up to you all but why go through the riggers of a contest to find no nothing at the end, just wonders.

Cheers,
Gary

If we give up trying to have these things we may as well just throw the towel in and concentrate on bag threads, the X100, the M9 and forget about photography! :D

Well we are not going to give up now just because last year wasn't brilliant ... it's supposed to fun.

:D:D:D:D

How about just posting good fsu snaps in this thread and forget about winning! Plenty of us out here with nice Zorki's etc

Shot a roll with an Iskra last weekend. Half shooting, half testing to see if the light leaks are fixed. Turns out my FED 2 has even worse leaks than the Iskra though I don't have a clue where they're coming from.

...so long story short, I should have some leaky shots to post worst case. ;)

Open theme photograph what you like but it has to be photos taken during the contest time not old stuff just lying around. Count me in. Two weeks one camera and lens sounds good.

I'm in too, since my only rangefinder is fed 5 :D. Please more ellaborate theme, like the two weeks with only fsu camera and lens. Let's say, 6 or 8 shots per participant made on as much film as the contestant desires. Please set a date, let's say may the 9th (it has a meaning also, because on the 9th of may the russian army was celebrating victory over the nazis, and in an eastern-europe-russian influenced country like mine it was a special day, because the comunist soviet army "liberated" us on that day). What do you think?

Great to see there is some support out there- after the initial grumbles :bang: and just because I started this thread doesn't mean I have to set the rules. :D We have to have a consensus regarding the "rules"- even though it's up to you individuals to be honest about what gear etc you were using...

I noticed 2010's competition was a flop, but that doesn't mean this one has to be... In my opinion 1 camera 1 lens is too limiting (although in my case thats about all I have presently) - and two weeks is too short a time scale for a shoot- let alone a dev and scan.... :(

Is there a way to create a poll so we can vote on what themes/rules? I'd personally like a documentary or photo-essay theme (up to 6 photos) - and perhaps a bizarre architectural theme- inspired by wacky Soviet structures... My suggestion, 1 month to shoot- say 15th May to 15th June, then two weeks to vote....

Last year's themes, particularly the military theme, gave me enough of a problem to put me off entering. Given a fairly open theme, I'm in. Not used mine lately, so it would be fun.

Dave..

I'll play as well.
Err...I meant to say:
"I will be honored to participate in any Glorious Exposition of the Forward Thinking Examples of Photo Design"....

As to themes, how about something vague such as "Struggle to (inevitable) Victory"? ;)

Time limits are good insofar as they motivate people instead of exclude so I like the month to shoot and two weeks to post/vote.
Perhaps two divisions: 1) FSU body and lens and 2) FSU lens and any body.

If we keep the photos in a thread we won't need to ask for a gallery.

Rob

I like the time limit of a month to shoot and i like the idea of some sort of theme and will go along with almost anything that is decided.
Lets pick something that will inspire us to all get out and take photographs ... public transport is a good one ...

People at work ?

Count me in - did not join in last year; military theme too complicated IMHO. A month to work on the project would be fine.

I'm game. Got the shutter leaks fixed on the Zorki 1, but still have a bit of shutter capping-bounce-lag, whatever it is. It's not too bad at times, and for a dusty lens, the I-22 is working pretty good. Just did a roll for ICCD over on Flickr, and will post some here in another thread. I'm out of town for a week starting tomorrow, so make up my mind what we are going to do.

Is to make Glorious Photography for the Proletariat!

I thought Paulfish won last year with his russian mig photo & Petronious won one of the other catigories. I don't know, but I guess I'm in if anything gets worked out. I'm game for just having a rangefinder camera contest so everybody can play. Just shoot what you got...Leica, Bessa, Canon, etc.
