2011 FSU contest.... anyone...?

How about "Struggle to (inevitable) Insanity"? You guys are killin' me! I would give it a go, but my sides are hurting too much from the laughter.

Hang in there fellas! Tape the back, guesstimate focus, sunny16 -- and go get the shot!
Reagan, it is excellent to "hear" from you again!
and, yes, laughter is the correct response!:D

What's the problem? Rangefinder adjustment on a Fed 5 takes 5 minutes if you're lucky, and an hour if you're not. And if the Fed 4 won't rewind, just unload it manually in a darkroom, light-proof bag, or even in a darkened bedroom under a duvet!

Come on Rob, you'd have never lasted in the USSR with that attitude!

After some time spent the last few days in Serious Self Criticism, the committee decided to censure me for being a Reactionary Whiny Boy.
And helpfully pointed out that I needed to fix my attitude first, then figure out what I'll do about the cameras.

So.
  • The Agat is toast.
  • The FED 4 and Kiev are going to Oleg soon and I'm not going to worry about 'em anymore.
  • The FED 5 I will be using. Scale focus.
I have attempted to adjust the RF on a FED 5 before and ended up with a broken RF/VF/meter surround--some one prior to my ownership had glued that piece to the camera.
I will look closely at my current FED 5 and see if I can do better this time.
So, my contribution to the contest will be from my FED 5 and Jupiter-11.

Thanks for pointing out my real trouble, folks!:)
Rob

Glad to be of service!

BTW: You're brave. Scale focus and a J-11? I sure as hell wouldn't want to try that!

Your bloody idea, my Zorki 1 didnt load properly so 10 images went on frame 1 before I noticed. Kiev screwed all its film then I fixed the dam takeup fork. My local processor informed me he will cease film soon. I really wanted to go back to chemicals !.
Didnt realise how good OM,s were as well as digital GEEEZ.
Top grove of the Kiev needs yak hair string (seal to others)

Hope your chooks die

gRRR

It didn't load properly? Have you got one of those special self-loading cameras? Mine have to be loaded by me.

Finished my first contest roll today. Have to wait 2 days before I can get it developed though :(

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
In Soviet Russia,
camera shoots you!

The Zorki-4k has been selected for this contest, though the FED-2 is being held in reserve. June 15? (Check!) 3 entries in each of three categories (landscape, transport, and abstract)? (Check!) Post them to where...and just where do they get posted????

Lol.... been missing out on some laughs here... Too busy shooting for the comp- not! Kiev 4 is loaded with...errr.... Fuji Superia 400... We've gotta few weeks left though. Which reminds me not to forget to ask admin to setup the gallery... Looks like we might have many entries for the "abstract" theme ;-)

Okay, I jumped in when this got started, but I have yet to see an official start/end date established, just a mention about 'weeks left' in the event. I did shoot a roll in the Zorki 1, but it is scatching things up so badly, I tore it down to clean things up. So let me know if there is time left for me to get the little wonder back together for another run.

Is to make Glorious Photography for the Proletariat!

What was the outcome on non-FSU bodies? Is a J-3 / J-12 on a Leica IIIf acceptable? Also have FSU auxilliary finders, and I promise to shoot sunny 16 since I don't have an FSU meter.

Had a look at that, but it seems a bit inconclusive. In-camera jpegs are out, but the question of film in another body still seems open, which is why I asked.

Soviet camera's/lenses only imho... Otherwise i cant see the point... Competition "rules" are in the other thread, decided in a very un-soviet manner. Of course it up to individuals to be honest & play by the rules, otherwise its to the gulag with no get-out-gaol card... ;-)

Yes, to err is to be arrested, comrades. I'm sure Victor on the 3th floor of the Lublyanka will be happy to talk to you about your transgressions.

On another note: AAARGH! Pinholes! :(

The Liquid Electrical Tape is currently drying from the fix....a little late for the pictures for the contest though :)
