The 2011 FSU Contest gallery is now open... you know the rules  3 images allowed for each of the 3 themes... Landscape, Transport and Abstract... and yeah folks- it has to have been shot "on film" (edits with PS & LR of course ok), and most importantly made on a rangefinder from the Former Soviet Union... I've loaded a debut pic and all is well. Hopefully admin will enable voting by about the 15th/16th- finishing June 30th... I'm still awaiting the offer of a "spare" camera (and/or) lens as one of the three "prizes"... Thanks Stephen for setting it up :)

Woo hoo ... just uploaded my first submission, an abstract!

Well done Kapa. :)

I'm surprised that competition entries that we will vote on have the entrant's name shown.
I guess that is a limitation of the gallery function?

I won't be able to hide my rubbish!

Hey Keith, didn't you have a spare Industar 50...

The only Industar I have is the I-26 attached to my Fed 2 which I wasn't game to use for this comp due to the shutter being a little flakey at anything over 1/100.

At least the Kiev only has the intermittent light leak ... I can deal with that and apart from which it may be useful for abstracts! :p

Only one dubious image so far and not long to go!

No time to play with a few bodies, so it's the dinged Z5b and the J12/I61 for the weekend.

Dave...

Put a roll through the Kiev ll today but this time with a bit of black electrical tape over the areas that may have been letting light in ... I have my fingers crossed! :D

All landscapes today with the humble J-12 and some Rollei Retro 100. :)

I'm actually starting to quite like that Kiev ... things are falling into place. The Contax grip suddenly seems a little more natural and with the J-12 and accessory 35mm finder mounted in the shoe it becomes a little less tedious viewfinder wise. :p

It shouldn't be hard provided your images don't exceed 200 kb ... ideally 800 pixels on the long side seems to be the norm around here for balanced viewing.

What problems are you having Mike?

Hello Keith,
Thanks for listening,
when i'm in the Gallery where the comp pics are and i press upload pic on the right hand top icon it wants to upload into my gallery me thinks.
Question if it is not to hard to explain what do i do to get them into
the comp gallery.
Thanks

In the upload screen there is an option where you can select what gallery to upload into. And if you've uploaded into your own gallery anyway you can still edit the info so it does show up in the FSU contest gallery.

Rick tells it like it is ... open the drop down menu and it's there. :)

A weekend out with my Zorki5 and no other camera to complicate things.
A roll of shots, all tastefully done, I promise.
I've just hung the first film to dry and the much anticipated Delta 100, exposed at 100 and some at 50 has some unwelcome text on it's edge. Printed there is "Agfa APX 400 s".

So I only run the two films and can't even remember which is in.

The negs look a little heavy....hope there's some can be salvaged.

Dave

It seems when using an FSU that if the camera doesn't botch your efforts with light leaks or shutter problems etc ... you have to find another method to threaten your output! :p

I hope you salvage something from the over exposure. :)

Still, there is always the hope that it was a typo:D

I better get organised, forgot all about this though i have a good excuse. My car was written off, pity no camera handy as i could have covered transport, landscape and abstract in just the one photo:bang:

My entries are now in the gallery. Been overcast all weekend, and everything came out a bit lacking in contrast, so I had to do some messing around in Photoshop. Some of them seem darker that I thought they would be, maybe because I scanned at 16-bit, and then reduced to 8-bit to save as jpeg. Lets just call them 'moody'. Overall, I'm quite pleased, considering I had no FSU camera a week ago, and these are from the 'test' rolls.

Damn ... my latest roll out of the Kiev still has that occasional light leak and it can't be the back because I taped all the gaps over. :bang:

FSU cameras!

Any Kiev light leak experts here?
