The HCB exhibit would be good to visit. When I visited Lisbon a year ago or two, the exhibit was there. I could not attend it. The RFF members who welcomed me in Lisbon gave me a book on HCB as a gift!

Ticket Reminder!
Okay, so it is looking like a number of folks are going to show up for the Atlanta Meet get-together and the HCB show at the High Museum. Cool!
It appears that 1:00pm might be the best time for attending the HCB exhibit at the Museum as some of us may be travelling long distances. If that works, or doesn't work, please post your thoughts! Tickets do need to be purchased early.
In addition, Paul B. suggested some of us stop by the Varsity later this week for an impromptu meet-up and handshake! Works for me, just let me know what time is better or if you prefer to do it next weekend...
P.S. Bring your gear!!!

I was stationed at NAS Atlanta near Smyrna/Marietta back in the mid 80's. I might be able to make a day trip or stay a night. Wouldn't be but a 5 hr drive for me. (as long as I85 stays clear through Greenville)The HCB exhibit would be great. Love to meet you all.
Greg, that would be great! Sign up!

Dave,
I was fortunate to have met RFF members in Portugal and in Germany. In both cases, they were very helpful and very friendly.
Thanks.

April 16th sounds good, and 1:00 sounds logical. Please let us know the day and time for the meeting at the Varsity.
David:
The Bar B Q sounds like a fine idea. Please let me know what to bring from lower Jonesboro to add to the fest. Gray Fox

VARSITY ATLANTA - January 29, 2011 @ 11:00
In response to requests to have an impromptu get-together to meet some of the RFF members and grab a hot dog and fries, we will be at the Varsity in Atlanta next Saturday for grins and geartalk.
Anyone, and I do mean anyone in the RFF who wants to show up, please do so as it would be nice to attach names with faces before the April 16th Meet! Looking forward to meeting you all!

Remember for those with GAS, KEH is also in NW ATL.
I'm checking my calendar (wife), but I hope to make it.

The way KEH is now doing things is that orders for pick-up must be placed at least one day before so the item(s) can be brought from their warehouse to the main location. There they can be examined before the purchase. So if anyone is contemplating doing so, you should coordinate the day you want to be there. I don't think it can be done on Saturday, though. GF

DaveL--the 29th sounds great--at 11:00 AM--just in time for a chili dog...
Also, Steven John--Gray Fox is right about KEH--no on site retail any more.
AND!!! I found this out the hard way--you can't just hand the item back if you don't want it--you have to go thru the return process.
KEH really discourages the non-internet sale anymore. Great place for used stuff, though.

Sorry for the mis-communication... the Atlanta 2011 Meet will be April 16th.
We are adding a quick meeting at the Varsity on Jan. 29 to discuss an itinerary, among other things, for the 2011 Meet on April 16th. It is just too cumbersome to do by posts and PM's.
For example, a number of people would like to arrive early on the 16th, and shoot various venues before lunch and then go to the HCB exhibit at 1:00. Questions such as where to shoot, where to eat, where to meet, where to park, maps, etc. keep coming up so we thought it best to discuss these before the actual meet on April 16th.
So, the itinerary may shape up like this:
- Field trips
- Lunch
-1:00pm High Museum - HCB Exhibition
- Field trips
-BBQ with David Dearborn
All of this is of course, open for discussion.
I am ordering my HCB tickets for 1:00pm from the High Museum today. BTW, the HCB Exhibition is open from Feb. 19 through May 29.

Raid,
It may be cheaper to fly into Atl. One of us could pick up up.

You can also take the train into the city. I forget how far the closest stop is to the High Museum, but not too far I think.

Isn't the arts center station the closest stop to the High?

I got really excited about this when I discovered this thread today! My wife and I have a Sunday in Atlanta in March - passing through on our way back to Miami from Calif. and visiting our son and family on the way. But, no time to visit the Museum.
However, it would be really cool to fly up for a meeting on April 16. Please keep me posted. I'll bookmark this thread in any case. Great idea, folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
