Georgia 2011 RFF Meet-Atlanta

MARTA Photography Letter

MARTA Photography Letter

Just got a letter from MARTA with my own name allowing me to take photographs in public areas of MARTA with very few restrictions. I sent everyone's name to have a letter printed for each individual confirmed attending the 2011 Atlanta RFF Meet.

Hope to have those tomorrow and can email them if anyone is interested before you come into town.🙂

Dave:

You're going to have to scratch me from this Saturday's activities. I injured my left foot during this afternoon's practical exercise portion of the course I'm taking out at Dobbins AFB and will be hobling around for the rest of the week and more. Glad I got this big lawn mowed Sunday. Anyhow, best wishes for a great day, and I'll miss traipsing around with the group at the various venues. Hope to see you at the May meet-up. Enjoy that bar-b-que. John

That's a bummer. I was stationed at NAS Atlanta fuel farm in the early 80's. Several times I would be called over to the AF side to refuel a C-5 that wanted JP5 instead of JP4 the Air Force used. Be cool to see the base again, but then again maybe not!🙂

Hold on to mine. I don't have a printer set up.

As for a swap all I got is a 135mm Canon 3.5 ltm (chrome)with leather case & a finder. Finder isn't a Canon but it is for a 135. No caps which is a bummer. I kind of doubt anyone will be interested but I may lug it down anyway. It will be cheap I promise!😀

we are really looking forward to the BBQ/Picnic. Please contact me via e mail landcruiserstuff@live.com if you have any foods that you must stay from so we can keep that in mind. There will be a LOT of food....Lori is going all out yankee style

As a reminder we dont drink but you all are more than welcome to bring whatever you wish..we will have a cooler and ice as well as soft drinks and such.

My new 8 x10 arrives toomorrow!

Can anyone post a final schedule? The closest thing to one I see is quoted below but it seems the morning we're meeting at the diner...? 😕😕😕

Do we have any plans for lunch or is the diner just planning to hold y'all over until the BBQ?

Hi, Tom...

Yes! The tickets are available online at:

http://www.high.org/main.taf?p=3,6,1&PerfNo=32172

We will finalize the itinerary within the next 2 weeks but here is the preliminary schedule:

9:00am

*(1) Atlanta Dogwood Festival Meet up at Piedmont Road and 14th Street, or
*(2) Optional self-guided walk and shoot or attending different venue.

11:30am

*Lunch - Location to be determined and reservations set

1:00 pm

*HCB Exhibit @ Atlanta High Museum

5:00 pm

*BBQ at David Dearborn's House

*Show-and-Tell

*Swap Meet

This is my impression but in no way any sort of final opinion 🙂

We meet at MARTA Lindburgh and or diner about 9. Wait there unitl 10 for Bfast and o get folks collected.

Drive over to High Museum. MARTA folks can catch rides with car people. I know of good parking that is cheaper than the High but right next door with full security. There are also other parking venues nearby if the primary is full.

Dogwood festival is about 3 blocks from High Museum so we can walk down. Lots of opportunity for street shooting in that area.

Food at dogwood festival should not be too crowded that early. Also good food in that area as well.

Back to High Museum for HCB about 1

HCB shold be done with 2ish. Lots of options at this point.

A few folks mentioned going out for some more shooting, maybe we could all head over to memorial drive area and park then walk around a while for PICs. Little 5 points is an option as well. People could go back to the Dogwood festival or hang out in that general area. I also have a cool train yard near my house we could go to....Paul and I went there a few weeks ago.

We can discuss when we meet.

BBQ/Picnic at my house will be about 4 but can be as late as 5. We have plenty of time to mess around 🙂

atlcruiser--I will be at the Marta at 9 with capacity for three folks--where will you park so that we can meet there?
What is your cell number?
Mine is 404 697 2165.
Thanks!!
Looking forward to same and the train yard and graffiti tour sounds great..

I will be out front n the big cruiser...sort of hard to miss. I have room for one, I asume Dave L has some room as well.

How many folks plan to meet at Marta? We need some sort of head count to ensure enough space for rides. I can drive the other car with seating for 3 additional folks if needed.

Hey everyone, it now looks pretty good for us to make breakfast Saturday. I haven't heard from Greg yet, but I'm pretty sure he'll be able to get up early enough Saturday for it; so it falls on me to get us there. Anyway, I found a hotel that happens to be within a mile of the Diner, so it would be a shame for us to miss it when we're right there.

I'll be meeting at MARTA. I emailed Dave my cell number (and atlcruiser too, I think).

One point of information - look at:

http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/14/severe.weather/index.html?hpt=T2

In part it says "The storm system will press forward into Georgia and the Carolinas overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. The forecast says the primary threat will be damaging thunderstorm winds, but there also will be the possibility of isolated tornadoes."

Heh, heh...remember "Gone with the Wind?"😛

You can count on Russ and I showing up.
What happened with Raid, I thought he was on the list, I wanted to meet him..
I may bring a Zeiss Ikon Super Wide to the swap meet...

Hi, Photony...

Raid has everyday covered with work before leaving town.

Looking forward to meeting you and Russ. Please send me a PM with your full name so I can add it to the Marta list tonight!🙂

See you guys on Saturday!😀
