24mm 2.8 w/Sony

Anybody have experience and an opinion about the combination? With which Sony body, I'm undecided? The Leitz lens is a chrome Elmarit 2.8, about 15 years old.

In general Sony bodies do not work too well with non-dedicated wide angle lenses as the sensors are not optimised for non-telecentric wide angles. Either put the lens on a Leica M or get a new Sony one - you'll have better results.
