One thing to remember with the ZA E 24 is that it is called a Sonnar for a reason. If you're expecting the signature modern look associated with Zeiss, that look is primarily a Planar or Distagon look, the Sonnar signature is smoother and doesn't have the in your face pop of the Planar.
That said, IMHO the ZA E 24 is a brilliant lens and one of my absolute favourite 35 equivalents. Sharp, lovely colour and beautiful bokeh. And it's neither large nor heavy (albeit it is bigger and heavier than many mirrorless lenses). The main downside is the metal ring on the hood will detach itself, leaving an ugly but fully functional plastic hood (the metal part of the hood is purely cosmetic).
