28/1.9...focus lever or not?

Good for you, Joe. Best way to figure out whether you like it or not is to use it and see.

As for me, mine didn't come with a focusing lever. I see that the one shown on Cameraquest does come with one. Bought mine used and it's a couple of years old (don't know the exact age but it did come with the older larger plastic separate viewfinder) so perhaps this is something that was added later? I assume the focus lever screws into a threaded hole on the focusing wheel? I looked at mine and there's no such hole.

I have the focus lever attached to mine, too. I don't mind them at all, and find them useful.

BTW, Randy, what is going on in your avatar...it's great!

there is a 'dummy' screw on the barrel that needs to come out and then the lever is screwed into the cavity. i think gandy sells the lever if you wanted to try one.

Thanks, Joe. I'll have to take another look at mine. (edit: yep, I see the dummy screw now. guess I'll have to check with gandy about getting a replacement focus lever. So, Joe, let me know what you think after you've used it for a while).

And glad to hear you like my new avatar, Ray. Just my doc doing a little rewiring to make my brain work a bit better... 😱 But the pic was taken with a rangefinder (Olympus XA held out in front of me - just guessing on the framing).

If you bought it from Gandy, look in the box. I think they came packaged seperately in a little piece of cellophane. IIRC.

Randy,

with the next beer you can have the one of my lens. I don't use it. I like it on the Color Skopar but the 28/1.9 has grip enough without for me. Check your lens, on the focus ring is a cover screw that can be replaced with
the lever.

Roland.

Thanks, Ray, but no it did not come with the original box. Paid a very fair price for the lens so have no issue with not getting the focusing lever. And, like I said, I did get the 28mm external finder and I would rather have that than the focusing lever anyway.

Cool! Thanks much Roland. Looking forward to that beer.

The only thing to watch out for, Joe, is that when you set it down at the 6'oclock position, it sometimes sits funny or scratches what you are setting it on (it doesn't clear the bottom at 6 oclock).

My lever is back in the box, sorry but I found it a pain in the ass!! It kept catching on the strap of another camera when I took it out of the bag!!
Also althogh not important, it looks home made!!🙄
