First let me say, it's so good to be able to interact with this group again! I dont know what happened but for months now i've only been able to read but not respond in anyway including posting messages or uploading images. So much to say and no one to listen. Glad to be back.
So lets get on with it. I have purchased an M8, black and have been jusing most of my old M3 lenses, which have worked pretty damm well. I've purchased one new lens, a Zeiss, 21mm, w filter and 6 bit coded. But!, i hate wearing glasses and really need a +3 diopter, which i am having a tough time finding, can anyone help. I have purchased them in the past for my M3 and R8, boy miss that diopter control they had on the IIIf.

THANKS, I ordered it, but the M3 diopter is not the same, it is much smaller.

I seem to remember the early M3's had a different eyepiece and used different lenses but I could be wrong. My M3 I used to have was a late# (>1,100,000) and it used the same diopters as my M4 and M6 (and now, M8).

The one from B&H is the current type and guarantee 100% it'll fit the M8 because I've got one on mine as we speak. I see from your gear list your M3 is a DS, so it may have the very early eyepiece which IIRC did use a smaller diopter.

Funnily enough, I still wear glasses even though I use a diopter. I have progressive-focals and without a diopter I have to position the eyepiece just right, somewhere in the middle (vertically) of my glasses. With a +1 I can just use the top part of my glasses that I use for distance, and that occupies a greater amount of the surface so positioning isn't hypercritical. The reason I don't just use a different diopter alone, is because I don 't like to keep putting on and taking off my glasses, and without them I can't see the subject or the camera controls. It would've been nice to have a built-in adjustable diopter like many much cheaper cameras do, but oh well, at least there's a way for me to work it out.

Got my diopter and it works fine.
