I still see several new CV 35/1.2's on ebay priced under $1000. So for those who wants one at normal price - get it while you can.
I notice that the Chrome 35/1.2 Nokton is now listed as "Sold Out". This was a limited production lens, only 300 made. Reverse of the 35/1.7 Ultron- Black was the uncommon variation of that lens.

Chrome 35/1.2 on the way. Is this lens going to be a cult classic like the 50/1.2 Noctilux and Noct-Nikkor 58/1.2? Time will tell, but at least I will have one!
Congrats, Brian. I am jealous down to the bone ...

There are no chrome Nokton 35/1.2 left in HK (I visited 6 shops last week end), Singapore or even Taipei according to a friend...

Thanks Meven,........does anybody know if this lens is popular in Japan?
Out of the handful of Leica photographers that I know personally, none of them use this lens...

Glad I kept my Chrome
Had a shoot once with the Old Noctilux and they are both comparable wide open on the M9 other than the FOV.

I think I'd give the Nokton the slight sharpness advantage, especially away from the centre of the image, where the Noctilux fades to to field curvature.

Too hard to tell by seeing low rez images. Either way they're different focal lengths and vastly different prices, so it doesn't really matter. Both are amazing lenses...and discontinued.

The word "mandate" was used in a contractual sense, as in you "shall," keep separate cosina and zeiss manufacturing and assembly from intermingling, and/or you shall not introduce a competing product that would otherwise infringe upon design patent and copyrights of Zeiss products.
It's well known that Zeiss glass is manufactured inside Cosina's factory.
It is? Some Zeiss-badged lenses are made there, I know, but I didn't know Cosina made all the glass for the Zeiss lenses they make (in fact, I don't know they make any glass at all), and I'm absolutely confident that Zeiss uses many other glasses in their factory in Germany, at least some (probably all) German-made.

Pleased to learn that the consequences of GAS isn't always irrational - I bought mine a few months ago in a random attack that needed to be satisfied and I love it on my M8. I didn't need it but I'm so pleased I have it.
I did own a older Noctilux f1 and to my eyes this lens is its equal, in distinctiveness if not precise character.

The best camera is one that still works!
Ok ... a quick poll.
Two years from now the 35mm f1.2 Nokton will be fetching:
a) $2000.00
b) $1000.00
c) $500.00
d) a minus b with the occasional addition of c.

Today I ask about the lens local distributor Ringfoto (subsidary of the German Ringfoto who is the Voigtlander brand owner) and was told that the lens are not any more on the distribution list and it is no possible to order them any more.
As far as future value: it depends on what replaces it.
The 35/1.7 Ultron has remained "down to Earth".

Woohoo, got mine, not new, but from a retail store that specializes in older discontinued items and mint in the box for $825.00! It's being shipped today. Thanks for the heads up from another RFF'er.

Hmmm, crap, and I just sold my nearly new one, for $800 or so. Needed to pay for new toys, but sure liked mine for the short time I had it.

I think that might have come to me. Did you send it from Toronto to London, England? I had one arrive today. Got nailed on VAT and Import duty to the tune of £150 (ouch), but considering the circumstances, still a deal. Ironically, I imported myself from Toronto to London, England 15 years ago!

I say $1200-1800 is the future price of these...
Of course that limited edition Chrome version will be going for $2500 on the bay
Wonder if they'll come up more frequently for sale on the used market? Even before it was discontinued, there just weren't that many...
