hello everyone, I have a bessa r3a with a canon 50 1.4 which i absolutely love. Ive been thinkin of getting the 35 1.4 nokton, or maybe the 35 1.2 nokton, does anyone have any experience with a 35mm on the bessa r3a? I really love the 1.0x mag finder which is why i opted for the r3a instead of the r2a. I assume i can use the entire viewfinder to compose, how accurate would that be?

any thoughts or suestions would be appreciated.

thank you.

As I recall, the R3A has framelines for the 40mm? If so, I wouldn't worry too much, as probably the 35mm lens area will extend beyond the visible 40mm framelines just slightly. Currently I'm using a 28mm on my M6 .85. As there are no framelines for it, I simply use the edges of the viewfinder and it works out pretty close.

Anyway, if you get slightly more than you wanted in the image, you can always crop!

And believe me, once you start using a 35mm lens you'll find - as many of us have - that it will spend more time on your camera than the 50mm.

I use a R3A with my 35mm zeiss I use the entire finder and it works out great.Keep in mind rangerfinder framelines are not 100% acurate anyway.

What astroman said. Not 100% accurate, but close enough for gummit work. (Sure am liking your ex-M6, astroman).

thanks guys, now i have to decide between the 35 1.2 and 35 1.4. hmm, decisions decisions....

I suggest that you try out both of the 35mm lenses 1st or better try any lenses that you can get you hand on... the 35 1.2 r3a combo is noticeably heavier than your combo atm. I owned a 35 1.2 and I dont mind the weight, because it's an excellent len and I fell just right with it

I use 35 with R3A and external finder.
40mm frames are hard to use (and impossible for glass wearers), so external finder is a must.
for 35/1.2 Nokton it is probably even more important
